摘要： The present invention provides isotactic polypropylene compositions suitable for cast film applications, cast polypropylene films made therefrom, and processes for forming such films. The novel polypropylene films are formed from film resins having a melt flow ratio of from 6.15 dg/min, with a narrow molecular weight distribution, narrow composition distribution, low level of solvent extractables, and increased film clarity (i.e., decreased haze %) compared to prior art Ziegler-Natta polypropylene film resins. The polypropylene films can be cast from an extruded polypropylene polymer, the extruded isotactic polypropylene polymer being formed by polymerization with a fluorided silica supported catalyst.

Bicomponent polymer fibers are described, having a core comprising a core polymer and a sheath comprising a sheath polymer, wherein the sheath polymer is a polyolefm having an Mw less than about 65,000 g/mol. The core polymer has an Mw at least about 20,000 g/mol greater than the Mw of the sheath polymer. Processes for forming bicomponent fibers are also described, comprising (i) forming a molten blend of a core polymer and a sheath polymer; (ii) extruding the molten polymer blend using an extrusion die having a length to diameter ratio greater than or equal to about 10 and under shear conditions sufficient to drive the sheath polymer to the die wall; and (iii) forming meltblown fibers having a core comprising the core polymer and a sheath comprising the sheath polymer.

摘要： This invention relates generally to crystalline propylene polymers, to methods for their production and to methods for their use in film applications. Specifically, this invention relates to crystalline propylene polymers comprising both propylene homopolymer and propylene copolymer. The compositions are prepared using metallocene catalyst systems comprising at least two metallocenes in a polymerization process that involves the sequential or parallel polymerization of propylene homopolymer and copolymer using propylene with a small amount of comonomer, preferably ethylene. The polymerization is catalyzed by a dual metallocene catalyst system. The resulting polymers have a broad, bimodal molecular weight distribution. The resulting polymers are excellent for use in the production of biaxially oriented films or non-oriented films. Films prepared with these propylene polymers have a significantly broader processability range and can be evenly stretched at lower temperature compared to films prepared from traditional propylene polymer.

摘要： A method of lowering MFR response of a high-melt-flow-rate-polymer-producing metallocene catalyst is provided. The method includes contacting the metallocene catalyst with a sufficient quantity of α,φ-diene monomer such that when the catalyst composition is contacted with polymerizable reactants under suitable polymerization conditions, the resulting polymer has an MFR rate in the range of 0.1 to 1000. Hydrogen and ethylene may also be present in the polymerization. Additionally a catalyst composition is provided which includes a high-melt-flow-rate-polymer-producing metallocene catalyst and a sufficient quantity of α,φ-diene monomers such that when the catalyst composition is contacted with a monomer under polymerization conditions, the resulting polymer has an MFR rate in the range of 0.1 to 1000.

摘要： The copolymerization reaction of one or more olefin monomers, such as propylene, with alpha , omega -diene units and the resulting copolymers are provided. More specifically, the copolymer may have from 90 to 99.999 weight percent of olefins and from 0.001 to 2.000 weight percent of alpha , omega -dienes. The copolymer may have a weight average molecular weight in the range from 50,000 to 2,000,000, a crystallization temperature (without the use of externally added nucleating agents) in the range from 115 DEG C to 135 DEG C and a melt flow rate in the range from 0.1 dg/min to 100 dg/min. These copolymers may be employed in a wide variety of applications, the articles of which include, for example, films, fibers, such as spunbonded and meltblown fibers, fabrics, such as nonwoven fabrics, and molded articles. The copolymer may further include at least two crystalline populations. Desirably, the melting point range of one of the crystalline populations is distinguishable from the melting point range of another crystalline population by a temperature range of from 1 DEG C to 16 DEG C. More desirably, one of the crystalline populations has a melting point in the range from 152 DEG C to 158 DEG C and another crystalline population has a melting point in the range from 142 DEG C to 148 DEG C.
