摘要： The present invention includes an elastomeric composition of a halogenated rubber component, a filler such as carbon black, and polybutene processing oil, the processing oil having a number average molecular weight of least 400 in one embodiment, and less than 10,000 in another embodiment. The rubber component can be a halogenated butyl rubber or a halogenated star-branched butyl rubber. In one embodiment, the polybutene processing oil is present in the composition from 2 to 30 phr, while the halogenated rubber component is present in the composition from 50 to 100 phr in one embodiment, and the filler is present from 10 to 150 phr in one embodiment. Further, a secondary rubber component may be present such as natural rubber. The compositions of the invention have an air permeability of from 1 x 10 to 3 x 10 cm -cm/cm -sec-atm at 65 DEG C, and are useful for air barriers such as an innerliner for a tire.

摘要： The improved green strength, green elongation, and green relaxation properties of isobutylene-based elastomers at elevated temperatures along with improved aging and barrier properties are achieved by blending semi-compatible, semi-crystalline copolymers with the isobutylene elastomers. The semi-crystalline copolymers are typically copolymers of ethylene and an alpha-olefin having from 4 to 16 carbon atoms. The improved properties are maintained in subsequent rubber compounds containing said blends and are particularly useful in tire and pharmaceutical container applications.

摘要： The invention provides a method for increasing the viscosity of halogenated (brominated) elastomeric copolymers of a C4 to C7 isomonoolefin (isobutylene) and a para-alkylstryrene (p-methylstyrene) by mixing the copolymer with a silica or clay particulate filler which has been contacted with an aminosilane containing at least one C1 to C4 alkoxy group and at least one primary, secondary or tertiary amine group. The resulting elastomer compositions are used to prepare thermoplastic elastomer blend compositions, containing more finely dispersed elastomers which results in compositions having improved mechanical properties.

摘要： Oriented films are prepared. A thermoplastic vulcanizate, prepared by mixing at least 20 wt.% of a thermoset rubber by weight of the total composition into a thermoplastic polymer are disclosed. After the mixture is prepared the thermoset rubber is entrained as discrete particles within the continuous thermoplastic polymer phase. The resulting composite is subjected to a stress either by pulling, blow molding, or any other film-forming process as is known in the art. This stress causes the continuous phase polymer molecules to become aligned or oriented in the direction in which the stress was applied, thus creating the oriented thermoplastic vulcanizate of the invention. This material has improved gas permeability and improved flexibility properties.
