摘要： Implantable materials for use with end effectors like surgical stapling devices, and methods associated with the operation of such end effectors, are provided herein. In one exemplary embodiment, a tissue reinforcement material is releasably retained on a portion of a surgical stapler end effector for delivery to tissue upon deployment of staples. The tissue reinforcement material comprises a plurality of fibers having an arrangement configured to compress and seal around a fastener component inserted therethrough. Other implants, devices, and methods for surgical stapling are also provided.

The rotary drive shaft is operable to actuate the firing assembly in response to selection of the firing mode. The mode selector may translate the rotary drive shaft between a first longitudinal position and a second longitudinal position to select between the tissue clamping mode and the firing mode. 摘要： An apparatus comprises a body, a shaft assembly, and an end effector. The shaft assembly extends distally from the body. The end effector is located at a distal end of the shaft assembly. The end effector comprises an ultrasonic blade and a clamp arm. The ultrasonic blade is configured to vibrate at an ultrasonic frequency. The clamp arm comprises a clamp pad. The clamp arm is movable toward the ultrasonic blade to compress tissue between the clamp pad and the ultrasonic blade in two stages. During the first stage, the clamp arm is configured to compress tissue with only a distal portion of the clamp pad. During the second stage, the clamp arm is configured to compress tissue with the distal portion and a proximal portion of the clamp pad. Thus, the tissue compression begins at the distal portion and subsequently progresses toward the proximal portion.

摘要： Implantable materials for use with end effectors like surgical stapling devices, and methods associated with the operation of such end effectors, are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a staple cartridge assembly includes a cartridge body and a hybrid adjunct material associated therewith. The hybrid adjunct material can include one or more biologic materials, such as a biologic tissue membrane, and one or more synthetic materials, such as a synthetic absorbable polymer. The synthetic absorbable polymer can be associated with the membrane such that the polymer provides structural integrity to the membrane so that the membrane can be securely coupled to the cartridge body. Both the membrane and the polymer can be configured to be securely attached to the tissue by staples of the cartridge body. Other implants, devices, and methods for surgical stapling are also provided.

In some embodiments, a staple cartridge assembly for use with a surgical stapler can include a cartridge body having a plurality of staple cavities configured to seat staples therein and an adjunct material being associated with the cartridge such that the adjunct material is configured to be securely coupled to the cartridge body and configured to be securely attached to tissue by staples in the cartridge. The adjunct material can have positively-charged particles such that the adjunct material is configured to enhance healing in the tissue. Other implants, devices, and methods for surgical stapling are also provided.

The anvil is configured to proximally retract toward the shaft assembly, which at least severs or staples tissue based on a single rotary input. The shaft assembly includes a plurality of joint segments, and each joint segment includes a resilient member. The plurality of joint segments are configured to pivot relative to one another in a first, uncompressed position and are configured to lock against one another to prevent pivoting in a second, compressed position. A first plurality of joint segments defines a proximal portion that is attached to a first cable or shaft. A second plurality of joint segments defines a distal portion that is selectively lockable independent of the proximal portion and that is attached to a second cable or shaft.

The anvil (240) may be inserted through the bodily lumen with the dilation feature (210) in the expanded position. The dilation feature (210) may then be collapsed in order to complete an end-to-end anastomosis of the bodily lumen.
