    • Implantable materials for use with end effectors like surgical stapling devices, and methods associated with the operation of such end effectors, are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a staple cartridge assembly includes a cartridge body and a hybrid adjunct material associated therewith. The hybrid adjunct material can include one or more biologic materials, such as a biologic tissue membrane, and one or more synthetic materials, such as a synthetic absorbable polymer. The synthetic absorbable polymer can be associated with the membrane such that the polymer provides structural integrity to the membrane so that the membrane can be securely coupled to the cartridge body. Both the membrane and the polymer can be configured to be securely attached to the tissue by staples of the cartridge body. Other implants, devices, and methods for surgical stapling are also provided.

    • Implantable materials for use with end effectors like surgical stapling devices, and methods associated with the operation of such end effectors, are provided herein. In one exemplary embodiment, a staple cartridge assembly includes a cartridge body and a hybrid adjunct material. The cartridge body has a plurality of staple cavities configured to seat staples therein. The hybrid adjunct material is releasably retained on the cartridge body and configured to be delivered to tissue by deployment of the staples in the cartridge body. The material includes a biologic tissue membrane, a synthetic substrate layer, and at least one compressible elastic member configured to compress when a compressive force is applied thereto, and to provide a spring back force when the compressive force is removed. Other implants, devices, and methods for surgical stapling are also provided.

    • A circular stapler apparatus and method for stapling tissue include a shaft assembly and an anvil. The anvil is configured to proximally retract toward the shaft assembly, which at least severs or staples tissue based on a single rotary input. The shaft assembly includes a plurality of joint segments, and each joint segment includes a resilient member. The plurality of joint segments are configured to pivot relative to one another in a first, uncompressed position and are configured to lock against one another to prevent pivoting in a second, compressed position. A first plurality of joint segments defines a proximal portion that is attached to a first cable or shaft. A second plurality of joint segments defines a distal portion that is selectively lockable independent of the proximal portion and that is attached to a second cable or shaft.
