    • Methods and devices are disclosed for forwarding data packets during handover in a packet-switched wireless communications system, such as a 3GPP Long-Term Evolution/System Architecture Evolution system. In an exemplary method, a source base station node (410, 900) determines (520) that handover of at least one radio bearer for a served user terminal (160) to a target base station node (430, 900) is imminent. The source base station node (410, 900) classifies (530) a plurality of data packets into two or more data flow classifications according to a transmission status for each data packet, a service requirement for each data packet, or both and selectively forwards (540) one or more of the data packets to the target base station node (430, 900) based on the data flow classification for each data packet. In some embodiments, the source base station node (410, 900) classifies (530) the data packets by inspecting (610) an Internet Protocol header for each packet to determine a corresponding service requirement. In some embodiments, the source base station node (410, 900) classifies (530) data packets by evaluating (650) a radio link control status to determine a transmission status for each data packet. In either case the source base station node (410, 900) selectively forwards (540) data packets corresponding to one or more of the classifications. For example, data packets associated with a reliable delivery service requirement may be forwarded while data packets associated with a maximum delay service requirement are not.

    • The present invention relates to a node and a method thereof for a mobile telecommunication network connectable to a controlling node and wirelessly connectable to mobile terminals. The node is adapted to have an uplink connection to a mobile terminal, wherein the mobile terminal is adapted to have a second uplink connection to at least a second node such that data transmitted from the mobile terminal may be received at the node and at the at least the second node. The node comprises means for estimating whether data transmitted from the mobile terminal received at the at least the second node is received stronger than the data received at said node and means for discarding data received from the mobile terminal if it is estimated that the data is received stronger at the at least the second node than the data received at said node.

    • A method and nodes for providing adaptive segmentation in a higher protocol layer interacting with a lower protocol layer. An adaptable segmentation limit (200, 204), defining a threshold of a largest Protocol Data Unit (PDU) that is to be submitted to a lower protocol layer, is deployed at a higher protocol layer interacting with the lower protocol layer. For each Service Data Unit (SDU; 201, 203) arriving at the higher protocol layer, it is determined if the respective SDU can fit into the segmentation limit or not. Each SDU that do not fit into the segmentation limit is segmented into PDUs (205, 206) which are smaller than or equal to the segmentation limit, while no segmentation is performed on SDUs that fit into the segmentation limit.
