    • The present disclosure relates to a technique for avoiding, forestalling, or reducing re-establishment procedures in a telecommunications system having multiple carriers. A method aspect of this technique includes monitoring a signal quality of an anchor component carrier associated with a serving cell of a mobile terminal and used by the mobile terminal. If the signal quality of the anchor component carrier violates a first signal quality condition, then a parameter (of, e.g., a downlink signal) of at least one candidate component carrier associated with the serving cell and distinct from the anchor component carrier is measured and the signal quality of the at least one candidate component carrier is determined based on the measured parameter. If the determined signal quality fulfils a second signal quality condition, then reselection to the at least one candidate component carrier is initiated such that the candidate component carrier becomes the anchor component carrier associated with the serving cell and used by the mobile terminal.

    • A half-duplex mobile terminal having first and second receiver branches connected, during a receive mode, to respective antennas, is disclosed. One of the antennas is selectively connected to the first receiver branch or to a transmitter circuit. The first antenna is connected to the first receiver branch during a first interval, during which interval data is detected using outputs from both the first and second receiver branches. The first antenna is disconnected from the first receiver branch at the end of the first interval, and, during a second interval immediately following the first interval, data is detected using the output of the second receiver branch. A portion of the incoming transmission that arrives during the transition between the receive mode and transmit mode in a half-duplex transceiver is thus received and detected, improving performance of the half-duplex transceiver.

    • Wireless communication method and system for improving optimal antenna weight derivation in transmit diversity mode during soft handover. The method and system use scale factors that depend on the reliability of the feedback information (FBI) detection on the uplink. Depending on FBI detections for each link, the scale factors are then applied to the downlink channel response estimates. FBI detection performance may be based on downlink antenna verification, downlink transmit power control command "up/down" ratio, or both. Poor antenna verification or a high number of "power up" commands on the uplink may indicate unreliable FBI detection. By applying higher scale factors to downlink channel responses corresponding to reliable FBI detection, better closed transmit diversity performance during soft handovers may be achieved.
