The multilayered element includes a plurality of ceramic layers and a plurality of copper-containing internal electrodes located between the ceramic layers. The internal electrodes are connected to copper-containing external contacts. Binder removal is carried out by adding water vapor at a temperature of 300°C or less in a nitrogen flow, and the binder removal process is completed here. An oxygen partial pressure during the binder removal does not fall below a value Pat which ceramic starts degrading by reduction and does not rise above a value Pat which metallic copper starts oxidizing at a given temperature.
