    • A process for the drying of algal biomass, comprising: - producing an aqueous suspension of algal biomass; concentrating said aqueous suspension of algal biomass in order to obtain a concentrated aqueous suspension of algal biomass; depositing a layer of said concentrated aqueous suspension of algal biomass on a hydrophobic surface, in order to obtain a layer having a thickness lower than or equal to 1 cm, preferably ranging from 0.2 to 0.6 cm,- putting this layer in contact with hot air, said hot air being at a temperature ranging from 40°C to 110°C, preferably ranging from 60°C to 9O°C in order to obtain a layer of dried algal biomass. The dried algal biomass obtained by means of the above-mentioned process can be advantageously used for the production of lipids. Said lipids can be used, in turn, for the production of biodiesel or green diesel. Alternatively, said dried algal biomass can be advantageously used for the production of bio-oil or bio- crude. Alternatively, said dried algal biomass can be advantageously used for the production of energy through thermal treatments such as, for example, combustion or gasification.
