    • A magnetic recording and reproducing heads having a high permeability and high hardness, consisting of 60.2 to 85.0 Wt.% of nickel, 6.0 to 30.0 Wt.% of iron and 3.1 to 23.0 Wt.% of tantalum as the main ingredient, and a total amount of 0.01 to 10.0 Wt.% of at least one element selected from the group consisting of 0 to 7.0 Wt.% of molybdenum, 0 to 5.0 Wt.% of chromium, 0 to 10.0 Wt.% of tungsten, 0 to 7.0 Wt.% of vanadium, 0 to 3.1 Wt.% of niobium, 0 to 10.0 Wt.% of manganese, 0 to 7.0 Wt.% of germanium, 0 to 5.0 Wt.% of titanium, 0 to 5.0 Wt.% of zirconium, 0 to 5.0 Wt.% of aluminum, 0 to 5.0 Wt.% of silicon, 0 to 5.0 Wt.% of tin, 0 to 5.0 Wt.% of antimony, 0 to 10.0 Wt.% of cobalt and 0 to 10.0 Wt.% of copper as the subingredient, and an inevitable amount of impurities, characterized in that the alloy has the degree of order of 0.1 to 0.6, the Vickers hardness of more than 150, the initial permeability of more than 3,000 and maximum permeability of more than 5,000, and a method of manufacturing a magnetic recording and reproducing head having a high permeability, by heating said alloy articles at a temperature above 800*C but lower than the melting point in a non-oxidizing atmosphere or in vacuo for at least more than 1 minute but not longer than 100 hours depending upon the composition, and cooling from a temperature of more than orderdisorder transformation point to a room temperature at a suitable speed depending upon the composition so as to provide the degree of order of 0.1 to 0.6 and the Vickers hardness of more than 150.

    • PURPOSE:To manufacture a wear resistant high permeability alloy by successively applying hot working, cold working, heating, and cooling to an alloy composed principally of specific percentages of Ni, Nb, Ta, and Fe and containing specific amounts of Cr, etc., as accessory components under respectively specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:An alloy which has a composition composed principally of, by weight, 60-90% Ni, 0.5-20%, in total, of Nb and Ta (Nb is 0%, respectively), and the balance Fe and containing, as accessory components, 0.01-30%, in total, of one or >=2 kinds among 1000-1200 deg.C and cooled. Subsequently, the above alloy is cold-worked at >=50% draft, heated up to a temp. between 900 deg.C and the melting point, and then cooled from a temp. between the superlattice - disordered lattice transformation point and the melting point down to the ordinary temp. at an appropriate rate corresponding to the composition, 100 deg.C/sec-1 deg.C/hr. By this method, the alloy in which effective permeability at 1kHz and saturation magnetic flux density are regulated to >=3000 and >=4000G, respectively, and which has a recrystallized texture of {110} +{311} can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance wear-resistant properties by a method wherein the title magnetic recording reproduced head is composed of an alloy mainly consisting of Ni, Nb and Fe having a specific effective permeability and saturated magnetic flux density, and also constructed in recrystallized aggregate structure having a specific crystal face and crystal orientation. CONSTITUTION:After the mixture, consisting of Ni of 60 to 90%, Nb of 0.5 to 14%, P of 0.001 to 1% and the remaining part containing Fe of a suitable quantity, has been dissolved in the air, a non-oxidizing atmosphere or in a vacuum atmosphere, a small quantity of dioxidation and desulfuration agent is added, and impurities are removed. Then, one or more kinds of 0.01 to 30% in total selected from a prescribed quantity of Cr, Mo, Ge and Au, as a supplementaly composition, of 7% or less, Co and V of 10% or less, W of 15% or less, Cu, Ta and Mn of 25% or less, Al, Si, Ti, Zr, Hf, Sn, Sb, Ga, In, Tl, a rare-earth element and platinum element of 5% or less, Be, Ag, Sr and Ba of 3% or less, B of 1% or less, are added, and a fused alloy is formed. Then, this alloy is poured into a mold, an ingot is obtained, a hot pressing and a cold pressing are conducted, and a thin plate is formed. Then, the core of head is punched out from the thin plate, and a magnetic heat treatment is conducted on the core in a non-oxidizing atmosphere or a vacuum atmosphere. Through these procedures, an abrasion-resisting high permeability alloy, having an effective permeability of 3000 or higher, a saturated magnetic flux density of 4000G or higher and a recrystallized aggregate structure of {110} can be obtained.
