    • A fuser device (10) for an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus. The fuser device includes an externally heated fuser roller (12) having a thick elastomeric cover (16). An external heater assembly (14) is positioned in operative association with the fuser roller. The external heater assembly has a low mass, fast-acting heating element to transfer heat rapidly to and from the external surface of the elastomeric cover of the fuser roller. A pressure film belt assembly (26) is also in operative association with the fuser roller, spaced from the external heater assembly. The pressure film belt assembly has a pressure applicator which maximizes thermal contact and mechanical energy to define an optimum nip pressure profile providing an extended fusing nip with the fuser roller, yielding quick starting, with superior energy efficiency and exceptional temperature control for the fuser device that provides proper image quality for photos, text, and graphics for high quality reproductions with consistent gloss (luster).

    • An inkjet printing system, comprising: one or more inkjet printheads (40) for printing drops of ink onto a receiver medium (15), and an acoustic air impingement drying system (20) positioned in proximity to at least one of the inkjet printhcads. The acoustic air impingement drying system includes: an airflow source (24) providing a supply flow rate; an acoustic resonant chamber (60) having an inlet slot (61) that receives air from the airflow source and an outlet slot (51) that directs air onto the receiver medium; an exhaust air channel (33) for removing the air directed onto the receiver medium by the acoustic resonant chamber; a blower (52B) for pulling air through the exhaust air channel at an exhaust flow rate; and a blower controller that controls the supply flow rate and the exhaust flow rate, wherein the exhaust flow rate is controlled to match the supply flow rate to within 1%, or to exceed the supply flow rate.

    • An acoustic wave drying system for drying a material (15) using an acoustic resonant chamber (60) that imparts acoustic energy to transiting air received from an airflow source (24). The acoustic resonant chamber includes a primary air channel (301) having side surfaces connecting an air inlet (302) and an air outlet (303), the primary air channel having a primary air channel length between the air inlet and the air outlet. A closed-end resonant chamber (304) is formed into a first side surface of the primary air channel, the closed-end resonant chamber having a resonant chamber length. The acoustic resonant chamber (60) also includes a sound air channel (305) having a sound air channel inlet (306) on a second side surface of the primary air channel opposite to the closed-end resonant chamber and a sound air channel outlet (307) for directing an air impingement airstream (27) containing acoustic energy onto the material (15).
