    • A gate lifter for shifting a gate from a valve seat in a gate valve. The gate lifter is provided on the downstream, or low pressure side of a valve, and is a tubular structure that surrounds and is slidable relative to a tubular valve seat. Hydraulic or other pressurized fluid is adapted to be introduced between an end of the lifter and a flange carried by the valve seat to cause the parts to move in opposite directions, as a result of which the lifter operates by shifting the gate member away from the valve seat to avoid damage to the valve seat as the gate member is moved there across. The gate lifter includes a face that is adapted to engage with a corresponding face of the gate member, the gate lifter face preferably including a low friction coating, such as teflon, gearings or gearing type material.

    • A coiled tubing hanger including a hanger bowl, a slip bowl supported in the hanger body, a plurality of slip segments disposed in the slip bowl so as to be movable between a retracted position wherein the tubular member is able to pass through the coiled tubing hanger and an extended position wherein a serrated surface of the slip segments engages the coiled tubing and forces the slip segments along the slip bowl so as to wedge the slip segments between the slip bowl and the coiled tubing to hold the coiled tubing. The slip segments are biased in the retracted position with a pair of slip retaining rings and the slip segments are moved between the retracted portion and the extended position with a plurality of spring-loaded pins disposed through the hanger body and engagable against the outer side of the slip segments such that the slip segments are disposed in the extended position when the pins are urged inwardly and such that the slip segments are biased in the retracted position when the pins are urged outwardly.

    • An annular blowout container (ABOC) that may be used in multiples in a stack in conjunction with additional gate and shear valves to protect a wellhead. The ABOC incorporates a cylindrical formed bladder that provides a tight constrictive seal around whatever pipe or tubing may be in the well bore. The bladder is made of top and bottom rotator plates with springs extending between the plates. The springs are encased in Teflon® and held in place by Kevlar® then covered over completely with cured Viton® that is injected to complete the overall bladder in a molded form. Rotation of the top and bottom rotator plates effects a twisting constriction around the drill pipe or tubing. Electrical and hydraulic operational components are housed inside chambers within the ABOC for predominantly self-contained operation. The cylindrical bladder assembly may be removed and replaced after extended use.

    • A gate valve comprising a valve body, a gate, a bonnet assembly and an actuator assembly. The gate having a closure area, a flow opening extending through the gate, and a recess circumscribing the flow opening and the closure area having a material disposed therein and case hardened to form a wear resistant sealing surface about the flow opening and the closure area having a hardness greater than about 50 Rockwell. The gate being press fitted between a pair of seat rings such that the sealing surface remains in sealing engagement against the seat rings to provide a substantially fluid tight seal when the gate is in an open and closed position. The actuating assembly is connected to the gate for reciprocally moving the gate across the flow bore between the open position and the closed position.
