    • A method is provided for contacting and electrically connecting at least one photovoltaic cell, the method comprising providing at least one photovoltaic cell (20;70;90), wherein said at least one photovoltaic cell comprises at least a first metal contact (21) of a first polarity and a second metal contact (22) of a second, opposite, polarity on a single surface thereof; providing a woven fabric (10;60) comprising a plurality of insulating ribbons (11), arranged in a single one of a warp direction (2) and a weft direction (3) of the woven fabric, and a plurality of conductive wires (12, 61), arranged in at least a weft direction (3) or a warp direction (2) of the woven fabric, at least in a direction different from the direction in which the plurality of insulating ribbons is arranged, wherein at least one of the plurality of conductive wires (12, 61) comprises at least a first segment (13) and a second segment (14) that are electrically isolated from each other; bringing the woven fabric (10;60) into physical contact with said surface of the at least one photovoltaic cell (20;70;90); performing a heating process to establishing an electrical connection between the first metal contact (21) and the first segment (13) and to establish an electrical connection between the second metal contact (22) and the second segment (14), wherein this heating process furthermore liquefies the plurality of insulating ribbons (11) to transform the insulating ribbons into an encapsulation layer.
