摘要： A process for the production of polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT), wherein the process comprises: (i) one or more esterification steps, wherein terephthalic acid (TPA) or an alkyl diester of terephthalic acid is reacted with 1,3-propanediol (PDO); and (ii) one or more subsequent polycondensation steps, wherein the process further comprises the addition of a protic acid, other than terephthalic or isophthalic acid, before and/or during the one or more esterification steps, wherein the protic acid has a dissociation constant of at most 4 (pKa measured in water at 25° C.), and wherein the total amount of protic acid added before and/or during the one or more esterification steps is in the range of from 0.001 to 10 millimole of acid per kilogram of polytrimethylene terephthalate produced.

摘要： This invention is an improvement upon the known process for polymerization of polytrimethylene terephthalate by esterification of terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate with 1,3-propane diol, precondensation of the esterification product to produce a precondensation product, and polycondensation of the precondensation product to produce polytrimethylene terephthalate and, optionally, solid stating of this product to produce higher intrinsic viscosity polytrimethylene terephthalate. The cyclic dimer of terephthalic acid and 1,3-propane diol is produced as a byproduct of the above process and the improvement comprises (a) recovering the cyclic dimer from the polymerization, (b) reacting from 0.5 to 25 percent by weight of the cyclic dimer in 1,3-propane diol in the presence of from 0.1 to 10 percent by weight of the cyclic dimer of a basic catalyst for five minutes to 24 hours at 50 to 210° C., (c) optionally neutralizing the basic catalyst in the reaction product of (b), and (d) recycling the reaction product into the polymerization process.

The esterification is effected in at least two stages, where in the first stage a molar ratio of TMG to TPA of 1.15 to 2.5, a content of titanium of 0 to 40 ppm, a temperature of 240 to 275° C., and a pressure of 1 to 3.5 bar are used. In the at least one subsequent stage a content of titanium is adjusted which is higher than in the initial stage by 35 to 110 ppm.

摘要： Process of producing polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) by esterification of terephthalic acid (TPA) with trimethylene glycol (TMG) in the presence of a catalytic, titanium compound, precondensation and polycondensation. The esterification is effected in at least two stages, where in the first stage a molar ratio of TMG to TPA of 1.25 to 2.5, a content of titanium of 0 to 40 ppm, a temperature of 245 to 260° C. as well as a pressure of 1 to 3.5 bar are adjusted. In the at least one subsequent stage a content of titanium is adjusted which is higher than in the initial stage by 35 to 110 ppm. For generating the vacuum in the polycondensation and in the precondensation, there are used vapor jet pumps operated with TMG vapor.

摘要： A process for preparing polytrimethylene terephthalate in which a carbonyl-containing 1,3-propanediol stream is purified for reuse of the 1,3-propanediol. The process involves reacting, under condensation polymerization conditions, terephthalic acid and a molar excess of 1,3-propanediol, with vacuum distillation and condensation of a major portion of the unreacted 1,3-propanediol. To this condensed stream is added a sufficient amount of base to raise the pH to a value greater than 7, and from this base-containing condensate the 1,3-propanediol is distilled and recycled to the polymerization reaction.
