    • An overload protection device for a top pan precision scale having a weighing pan support and a support plate carried by a load support mounted for limited movement and connected to an indicator, includes a spring engaged between the weighing pan support and the support plate whereby the weighing pan support is resiliently coupled to the load support, and a plurality of overlapping elements carried by the weighing pan support and extending beyond the outer peripheral edge of the support plate in close proximity thereto so that the weighing pan support and support plate are held in assembled relationship against the bias of the spring by the overlapping elements at the outer peripheral edge of the support plate, whereby upon eccentric loading of the scale, the pivot point of the weighing pan support is extended to the side of the weighing pan support opposite the load, and the lever translation thus effected results in a lower load on the load support than the highest available load.

    • To permit only centered insertion of variously sized cassettes (SML) of a set of cassettes into an opening leading into an insertion well of a tape transducer housing (H), cover flaps (1,3,7) are located across the opening, the cover flaps being positioned symmetrically with respect to a central axis of symmetry (XX) of the insertion path. One of the flaps, corresponding in size to the smallest one of the cassettes, closes off the path for the smallest cassette. The next flap is subdivided into two flap portions located, symetrically, adjacent the center flap, and cross-connected by a cross-connecting shaft or strap (3c,63c). Adjacent thereto are outer flap portions (7a,7b). The respective flap portions are locked in position by releasable locks (4) engageable by the leading edge of the respective cassettes. The locks are located adjacent the outer edges of the respective flap portions. Only if both appropriately sized flap portions are released from the locks, can the openings be completely uncovered. Depressible guide ridges can be formed in the cassette well to guide the respective cassettes.

    • To provide for controlled tape tension during pull-out of tape (11) from a cassette into a preliminary pulled-out position, placement of the tape in a transducing path (11a) and subsequent operation of the tape in the transducing path, two tape loading elements (21,22) are movably located on a support (65a) to engage behind the tape (11) in the cassette (12) and move the tape out of the cassette and towards the transducing path. The tape loading elements, for example in form of hooked levers (FIG. 3), are driven by a motor, to move the tape loading elements from a rest position into a position where the tape is out of the cassette and, later, placed in said transducing path. The same tape loading elements are resiliently deflectable with respect to a surrounding sleeve (64) which is axially driven by the motor (60), relative deflection of the sleeve (64) and of the respective tape loading element (21,22) being sensed by an angle sensor (90,91,91a) to provide a relative deflection output signal which, in turn, is connected to the drive motors for the tape reels to control, respectively, tape tension, torque and direction of rotation of the tape drive motors, forming dynamo electric elements, for constant tape tension during either tape pull-out, tape loading, or tape operation conditions.

    • To provide for conjoint movement of reel tables (1,2) on which the centers of winding reels of cassettes having different reel spacing, for example from a set of cassettes, can be positioned, the reel tables are located on respective carriages (5,25) operable in a common plane along guide reels or rods (3,4; 23,24), and commonly driven from a single motor (13). The motor 13 is in engagement, via bevel gears coupled to the shaft, with two spindles (7,27), engaged by spindle nuts which are coupled to the respective carriages, so that, upon rotation of the motor, both of the reel tables will move in a common plane and will shift proportionately along the guide tracks or rods, thereby moving conjointly, and proportionately with respect to said axis of symmetry.
