    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil, in which voids are hardly left in an insulating resin material, injected into the gap between a tower housing and a high- voltage terminal. SOLUTION: This ignition coil is provided with a cylindrical coil housing, the cylindrical tower housing 70 being disposed under the coil housing, and the high-voltage terminal 71 having an upper large-diameter section 77 demarcating a small gap 80 with the internal surface of the housing 70 and a lower small-diameter section 78 demarcating a large gap 81 made to communicate with the inside of the coil housing via the small gap 80 with the inner peripheral surface of the housing 70. This coil is also provided with the insulating resin material which is injected into and cured in the coil housing and tower housing 70. At least either one of the tower housing 70 and upper large-diameter section 77 has a void clearing passage 10, which makes voids 9 existing in the insulating resin material injected into the large gap 81 easily escapable into the coil housing. SOLUTION: A traverse shaft section 609 shifts in response to the rotation of a bobbin rotating section 604 at a predetermined winding pitch P1, for example, equivalent to two to ten times of the diameter of a wire rod 520. With this shift movement of the traverse shaft section 609, the wire rod 520 extracted from a winding nozzle section 610 shifting together with the traverse shaft section 609 is wound spirally along a slant surface 530 formed by a primary winding section 541 at the winding pitch P1 equivalent to two to ten times of the diameter of the wire rod. As a result, an advancing-side wire rod 520a and a reversing-side wire rod 520b cross over each other at opposing inclinations. Hence, it becomes possible to prevent the reversing-side wire rod 520b, when wound on the advancing-side wire rod 520a, from pulling and dislocating the advancing-side wire rod 520a from its regular winding position, thereby eliminating undesirable winding collapse.
