    • A photographic film cassette comprising a housing with a hinged lid thrusts film therefrom during the film threading process. The cassette comprises a rotatable film spool concentrically positioned in a housing, within and adjacent to a rotatable, outwardly convex panel member having end plates with camming structure thereon. Corresponding cam followers are located on the interior of the lid, and when the panel member is rotated by a drive spindle accessible to the member through an opening in an end of the housing, the member rotates, camming the lid onto an open position. Film engaged to the member's outer surface by a detent projecting from the surface through a perforation in the film is thrust out of the cassette into engagement with the camera's film transport mechanism. During rewinding, a drive spindle accessible to the spool through the housing's end opening rewinds the film until the perforation is sensed by camera sensing means. The housing lid is then partially closed, bringing shoulders on the lid's interior into contact with the film and forcing the perforation back onto the detent. Continued rewinding of the last of the film results in further camming of the followers caused by movement of the film, closing the lid.

    • In a photography method, a determination is made that a set of captured images includes one or more encoded captured images having a partial shading encodement. The encodement has a predetermined edge pattern and is disposed within a predetermined subarea of an image. An encoded captured image is digitized to provide a digital image having a plurality of pixels. A plurality of pixel templates of an edge pattern and the pixels in the subarea of the digital image are convolved to provide a plurality of template position metrics. Each pixel template has the same shape. Each pixel template is differently located in said subarea. The highest of the template position metrics and a predetermined threshold template position metric value of the edge pattern are compared. The digital image is digitally modified when said highest template position metric matches the threshold template position metric value.

The thermal printer cartridge comprising: a supply housing having a drive end and a non-drive end; a take-up housing having a drive end and a non-drive end; a stiffening linkage joining the non-drive end of the supply housing to the non-drive end of the take-up housing, the stiffening linkage being capable of elastic deflection to absorb a portion of the energy from an impact load; an elastically deformable linkage joining the drive ends, the resilient linkage being adapted to elastically deflect following a first deflection pattern and to absorb another portion of an amount of energy from a impact load; and a damping linkage joining the drive ends, the damping linkage being adapted to elastically deflect following a second deflection pattern that is different than the first deflection pattern and to absorb still another portion of an amount of energy from the impact load.
