摘要： A method, system and apparatus for bookmarking a path to a presently displayed Web page are provided. The path is made of a plurality of web pages that have previously been accessed and from which the presently displayed Web page emanates. When a user wants to bookmark the presently displayed Web page, the user is given an option to choose all the Web pages that were previously accessed. If the user so chooses, all the Web pages are bookmarked at once. When the bookmark folder is accessed anytime thereafter, the bookmarked Web pages are displayed as a chain of bookmarked Web pages and in the order they were accessed.

摘要： Disclosed is a system and method for enhancing the security and reliability of virtual private network (VPN) connections by manually exchanging secondary configuration information. If a compromise is detected on a main VPN tunnel, a new VPN tunnel can be created by the system administrators using the secondary configuration, stymieing attempted security violations and providing nearly continuous service to the users. A compromise may be indicative of a security breach or other problem with the VPN. The main VPN tunnel may be abandoned or fed with false data to confuse would-be intruders if the compromise is a security compromise.

摘要： Minimizing the effects that repetitive failures to access requested documents or files will have on the user requesting the files through a receiving network or World Wide Web (Web) station. When there is a network, e.g. Web failure in the access of a requested document, the system will retry to access. However, when the failed retries reaches a selected number, the system will then continue to try to access the requested document and, when that document is finally accessed, the system will automatically store the document in an appropriate cache associated with the requesting receiving station. Documents related to this initial document will also be automatically accessed from the Web and stored at the receiving station together with the initial document. Note, these related documents may be documents accessed through hyperlinks in the initial document.

摘要： Tracking the success or failure of and the quality of communications between requesting client station computers and servers, particularly servers for accessing resource locations for the present complex and circuitous environment. Conventional browsers are provided for requesting the transmission of data components from one of said resource locations to one of said client stations. There are also implementations, associated with the client station requesting the transmission of data components, for tracking characteristics of said transmission in combination with sending said tracked characteristics to at least one network server on the path of said transmission. In the complex World Wide Web (Web) environment, while the resource location server does not know where its thousand of “hits” are coming from, each requesting client station of those thousands does know the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) or address of the server. Thus, the properties and characteristics of the transmission from the resource location are tracked at the requesting client station. Then, after a request and resulting transmission, or in the case of a failed transmission, after the first successful transmission after the failed transmission, the requesting client location sends tracked data to the server relative to the failed transmission, as well as any data pertinent to the successful transmission.

摘要： A method and system for an algorithm-based network snoop avoider is provided. A first data processing system and a second data processing system communicate on a physical network by transmitting data packets on the network using a virtual private network (VPN). Data packets are transmitted through a first VPN tunnel between the first data processing system with a first network address terminating a first end of the VPN tunnel and the second data processing system with a second network address terminating a second end of the first VPN tunnel. The VPN is automatically reconfigured to use alternate addresses on the network for the tunnel endpoints by automatically determining, in accordance with a predetermined algorithm, a third network address and a fourth network address and by automatically assigning the third network address to the first data processing system and the fourth network address to the second data processing system. Data packets may then be transmitted through a second VPN tunnel in which a first end of the second VPN tunnel is terminated by the first data processing system using the third network address and a second end of the second VPN tunnel is terminated by the second data processing system using the fourth network address. The data packets may be transmitted using Internet Protocol (IP), and a portion of the network may include the Internet.
