    • A baler with a pickup and a baling chamber with an inlet, the bale forming chamber having a first and second side panel, a plurality rollers rotatably disposed respectively about parallel axes. A bale edge engaging member is rotatably attached to the frame about an axis of rotation substantially parallel to said axes of the rollers, the bale edge engaging member being disposed adjacent an inside portion of one of the side panels in overlapping arrangement with a bale being formed in the baling chamber at least at times when a bale is being formed. The bale edge engaging member is spaced from the inlet to the bale forming chamber so as to not impede material entering the bale forming chamber from a pickup. Alternate embodiments have the rotatable bale edge engaging member/disc on a fixed axis adjacent the baling chamber when the bale is almost completed.

    • A method and apparatus for remote administration of programmable workstations coupled to a host computer in a data processing system. Master user configuration files are established and stored in association with a host computer for selected programmable workstations, each including a desired or existing configuration for an associated programmable workstation. At least one user within the data processing system is designated as a system administrator and permitted to selectively alter particular master user configuration files. Thereafter, the altered master user configuration file is automatically copied to an associated programmable workstation, in response to an initiation of communication between the programmable workstation and the host computer, altering the configuration of that workstation. A configuration for a newly established or a migrated programmable workstation may be created by utilizing an existing master user configuration file associated with another programmable workstation or by utilizing a model master user configuration file created for that purpose. Multiple software applications stored in association with the host computer may be selectively added to or deleted from a programmable workstation utilizing the master user configuration file.

    • A nitride of a metal or solid metalloid is produced by ball milling a powder of a metal or metalloid in a nitrogen, or nitrogen-containing atmosphere (such as ammonia). The pressure in the ball mill is normally from 100 to 5,000 kPa, typically about 300 kPa. The ball mill temperature may be from room temperature to 500.degree. C., preferably from 200.degree. C. to 400.degree. C. The product powder is normally pressure moulded and annealed at 800.degree. C. for about 1 hour to produce a strong, hard body. Controlling the degree of nitration, or mixing the product nitride powder with a metal powder before pressure moulding, enables a composite comprising a metal matrix with a dispersed nitride phase to be produced. An alternative technique, involves ball milling the metal or metalloid powder with an organic nitrogen-containing chemical which dissociates in the ball mill. This yields a mixture of the nitride and carbide of a metal or solid metalloid.
