    • Miniature light-activated lamp control apparatus and the like, including a thin disk-shaped switching unit positionable within a light bulb socket and a thin light conductor having one end attached thereto, the light conductor being extendable through the gap between the electrically conductive inner wall of the socket and the electrically conductive outer surface of the bulb base disposed in the socket, and terminating at the opposite end in a lens for gathering ambient or other light. The switching unit has a first contact on one side for engagement with the socket center terminal, and a second contact on an opposing side for engagement with the center terminal of a light bulb. The unit includes a thin circuit board having control circuitry mounted thereon, such circuitry being positioned to occupy available space between the conical bulb base and the circuit board. Also mounted on the circuit board and in light communication with the light conductor is a photodetector electrically coupled to the control circuitry. The control circuitry receives operating power from the lamp through the first contact and is responsive to light communicated through the light conductor to turn the power to the second contact OFF and ON. The circuitry also has provision for gradually applying the power to the bulb (slow start) to extend bulb life, and has a hysteresis response to the incoming light intensity so as to eliminate turn-ON and turn-OFF flicker.

    • Television power, antenna and data coupling apparatus including the substitution of a coaxial cable or metal clad fiberoptics cable for the standard grounded wire of a typical power cord, with the ground prong being configured to form the male component of a coaxial jack connector. Similarly, at least one of the ground plug receptacles of a dual or other multiple socket wall connector is modified to form a female coaxial connector for receiving the male component of the jack connector. The outer conductor of the coaxial jack connector and the outer conductor of the female receptacle connector are used to provide the standard ground connection for the plug and receptacle. The inner metal and/or glass fiber conductors form the principal signal paths. Since the female component of the receptacle is of the same internal diameter as the standard ground pin receptacle, the plugging of a standard three-prong plug into the modified receptacle provides power to the plug in the identical manner of the non-video/data receptacle.

    • An alarm actuating sensor device for use in a picket barrier intrusion detection and location system including a generally t-shaped rocker element for rigid attachment to the upper end of a picket and for disposition within the upper longitudinally extending rail providing support for the picket, an elongated rocker spring pivotally engaged at its mid-point by a pin passed through the end of the picket and including downwardly turned end legs for engaging the lower wall of the rail and for exerting a biasing force on the picket pending to resist downward translation thereof, and a length of dual conductor "tape switch" the longitudinal axis of which extends generally along the longitudinal axis of the rail and passes between the rocker element and the rocker spring, whereby downward forces applied to the picket, or lateral forces tending to bend to the picket, cause the tape switch to be pinched between at least one extremity of the rocker spring and a portion of the rocker element thereby creating an electrical short at the pinch point which emulates the closing of a switch that can be sensed by suitable electrical or electronic apparatus coupled to the conductors forming the tape switch. A modified embodiment includes a lever arm pivotally attached to the rocker element and having one end connectable to a finial plate and a second end for pinching the tape switch in the event a finial is deflected.
