    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrier rib forming method of a plasma display panel allowing good display, by preventing separation of mask materials from a barrier material in a sand blast process, forming a barrier rib of a band-like pattern with a uniform width in a display region, and preventing raising of an end of the barrier rib. SOLUTION: An auxiliary mask material 4 is formed on the extension of the tip and/or the terminal end of the barrier rib shape of the mask materials 3 correspondingly to each mask material 3. In the sand blast process after forming the mask material 3 and the auxiliary mask material 4, the barrier rib material 2 around the auxiliary mask material 4 is cut simultaneously with the barrier rib material 2 around the mask materials 3, an auxiliary barrier rib 40 formed by cutting blocks a cutting material bouncing from a glass substrate 10, and the cutting material is prevented from arriving at a tip of the band-like barrier rib 30. Therefore, a cut amount at the end of the barrier rib 30 decreases and is not cut excessively like bent recessed groove, so that a desired barrier rib 30 can be accurately formed without separating the mask material 3 from the barrier rib material 2 forming a base.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a plasma display panel in which etching can be carried out easily by an acid such as nitric acid without forming a dielectric layer covering the whole substrate and without thermal oxidation of the electrode by the firing of the rib paste or the like, and without generating a gap by the rib paste firing temperature of the softening point temperature or the less of the rib paste.
      SOLUTION: After covering uniformly the electrode 21 and the terminal 21b on the substrate by a terminal protection paste 22 and a rib paste 23, the terminal protection paste 22 and the rib paste 23 are fired simultaneously. Thereby, the electrode 21 that is not covered by the rib paste 23 is covered by the terminal protection paste 22, and all electrodes 21 are covered by the rib paste 23 and the terminal protection paste 22, and the electrode 21 and the terminal 21b can be sintered in the firing of the rib paste 23 or the like without oxidation. Further, since the terminal protection paste 22 and the rib paste 23 are fired simultaneously, the forming time can be reduced.
