    • An alarm management system includes an alarm management system server (“alarm server”), one or more data sources, and one or more system users (and associated user devices), all of which can be communicably connected through a communications network. The system can be configured by defining the data sources and users, defining attributes, assigning and associating attribute values with the data sources and users, and defining alarm conditions in terms of attribute values and measurements. The data sources generate measurement data which is provided to the alarm server, and the alarm server evaluates the data to determine whether the alarm conditions have been met. A data set of data sources matching alarm conditions can be generated and reported to one or more of the users.

    • A method of storing data in a utility monitoring system includes monitoring a characteristic of a utility system in an intelligent electronic device (IED) to produce monitored characteristic values that are buffered in the IED. The IED is communicatively coupled to a server via a network. The monitored characteristic values are indicative of the characteristic. The method further includes storing a first monitored characteristic value of the buffered monitored characteristic values periodically at a first logging interval in a memory of the IED. The method further includes storing a second monitored characteristic value of the buffered monitored characteristic values periodically at a second logging interval in the memory of the IED in response to satisfying a criterion. The second logging interval is distinct from the first logging interval.

    • At least one aspect of the invention is directed to a power monitoring system including a generator coupled to a fuel tank, a plurality of monitors, and a processor configured to monitor one or more loads drawing power from the generator; monitor one or more parameters that affect the amount of power drawn by the one or more loads; monitor a fuel consumption rate of the generator; generate one or more load profiles for each of the one or more loads; receive a set of the one or more loads for which a predicted time is to be generated; receive values for the one or more parameters; generate a predicted load profile for the set of the one or more loads and the values of the one or more parameters; receive information indicating an amount of remaining fuel; and calculate a predicted available run time.

    • An electrical power monitoring system includes a proxy server between (1) monitoring devices coupled to an electrical power distribution system for sensing and storing data representing operating characteristics of the power distribution system, and (2) at least one client device coupled to the monitoring devices for requesting data from the monitoring device and processing, storing and presenting data received from the monitoring devices. A communications network is coupled to the monitoring and client devices, and proxy server is coupled to the communications network for processing and transforming messages and context-specific caching. The proxy server receives messages from the client device as a virtual device, processes the messages, and alters the messages before communicating the messages to the monitoring devices to which the messages are directed, or defers communication of at least portions of the messages to the actual monitoring devices to which the requests are directed until a later time.
