    • A control mechanism for a boat having a seat assembly to support a pilot provides an outboard motor which is directionally controlled by extension and retraction of a control cable with the control mechanism having a pedal which is generally planar on its upper surface receptive of the pilot's foot. A bracket mounts the pedal at a location below the seat assembly so that the user occupying the seat can position one of his feet on the pedal. A pair of switch surfaces are disposed on opposite sides of the pedal, each surface extending above the pedal surface so that lateral movement of the user's foot when positioned on the pedal can contact one of the switch surfaces. A switch associated with each switch surface can then be activated for directionally moving the outboard motor into different positions responsive to pressure applied to one or other of the switch surfaces applied by the edge of the user's foot. In one embodiment, the pedal and motor are remotely placed with respect to one another, and the pedal "communicates" with the trolling motor using radio waves. In that embodiment, a transmitter is carried by the foot pedal or similar pilot-operated control, and a receiver positioned near the motor activates a reversible motor to steer the trolling motor, preferably by cable extension/retraction.

    • A truck trailer having a pair of tandem spaced apart rear axles and a suspension system for supporting the axles from the chassis of the trailer having a pivot member intermediate the axles about which the axles may pivot relatively to one another, the axles being connected to respective ends of leaf springs. The trailer has apparatus for lifting one of the axles relative to the other axle selectively so that the wheels carried by the lifted axle may be lifted off the roadway. The apparatus for lifting includes air bags which may be inflated by pressurized air or deflated to control the position of the axle to be raised. The air bags are positioned between one of the axles and the chassis and when pressurized air inflates the bags the other axle is lifted about the pivot member.

    • A load rotating attachment for a lift truck provided with an elevating carriage has a back plate sub-assembly including an upright wall adapted to be secured to the carriage adjacent and forwardly thereof. A front plate sub-assembly has an upright wall juxtaposed to the back plate wall and pivotally mounted thereon for rotation relative thereto with the major planes of the walls in parallelism. An upright framework is fixed to and extends above the back plate wall and supports a hydraulic ram thereon. A fixed upright of the framework serves as a guide track for a movable guide having a roller arm with guide rollers supported thereon for tracking on the guide track. The piston rod of the ram is pivotally connected to a drive link which in turn is pivotally coupled between and to said movable guide and to the rotatable front wall for bodily travel and pivotal motion in a path extending partially around and radially offset from the pivotal mounting of the front and back walls. This produces a 180.degree. rotation of the front wall and associated load-carrying forks. The forks are removably attachable for mounting in load carrying attitude on the front wall in either its 0.degree. or 180.degree. position to provide left-hand or right dumping of the load. The front and back plate walls have spacers disposed therebetween for maintaining the walls generally in parallelism against load induced bending moments exerted on said front plate assembly. Rotational lock-up and fork and carriage safety mounts are also provided.

    • A power-up and power-down mast and carriage assembly for a lift truck of the type having a stationary mast section fixed to the truck, a movable inner mast section reciprocable within the stationary mast, a fork carriage movably associated with the inner mast section, a double-acting hydraulic ram having an extensible and retractable cylinder and piston rod assembly operatively connected between said mast sections for extending and retracting the inner mast section relative to the stationary mast section. Lost-motion couplings interconnect both power-up and power-down chains with the stationary mast and carriage in a closed loop chain rigging system. The lost-motion couplings each have a rod slidably through the interconnection with the carriage and stationary mast, and spaced stops operable to limit travel of the rod to a predetermined distance. Coil springs connected to the rod yieldably bias the chains so as to exert tension thereon in a direction opposite to the load forces imposed on the chains by the ram. The lost-motion predetermined travel distance preferably is equal to the sum of the travel of the lost-motion coupling of the powered chains during initial application of ram-applied forces thereto plus the maximum elongation of the powered chains under maximum rated load so that the non-powered chains are always maintained in taut condition in both power-up and power-down modes of operation of said mast.
