    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auger icemaker having a longer life while saving power consumption without useless operation when the outside air temperature is lower, and suppressing overloads on an auger icemaking part and a geared motor to prevent damage to the icemaker.
      SOLUTION: The auger icemaker M comprises a water receiving tank 13, the auger icemaking part 18, a crushing part 24, and an ice storage part 30. A temperature sensor is attached to a machine room. When a detected temperature gets to a set temperature or lower, a refrigerant compressor and a condenser fan motor are shifted into intermittent operation, and when it gets to the set temperature +α°C, they are shifted into continuous operation. The shift into the intermittent operation is done only when the machine room has a stable temperature after starting the operation. An operation-stop time zone after the shift into the intermittent operation is set to be 10-90 minutes for operation and 5-15 minutes for stop. The shift from the continuous operation to the intermittent operation or the shift from the intermittent operation to the continuous operation is done with a certain time lag after the detected temperature reaches the set temperature.

      SOLUTION: In this cell type ice-making machine, water supply plate 5 of a water supply unit 7 is brought into close contact with an ice making tray 2, water (w) is jetted from a nozzle 6 into cavities 1 to make ice pieces (i), and the water supply unit is separated from the ice making tray to drop the ice pieces from the cavities of the ice making tray and store the same in an ice storage 9. The force of jet water (w) into the cavities of the ice making tray is changed by operating a switch, whereby even in the case of water (w) having a large amount of impurities such as salinity and calcareous, cloudy ice pieces (i) are not generated (transparent ice pieces are made). The impurities such as salinity and calcareous are not allowed to enter crystal lattice of ice, and put out to the surface of the crystal lattice to appear as a block on the surface of the ice piece (i). Water (w) is strongly sprayed to the surface to eliminate the block, so that ice pieces (i) made of transparent water (w) only are formed in the cavities. The jet speed of the water (w) is suitably set to a value to make an ice piece (i) with a required transparency through experiments or the like.
