    • An object of the present invention is to enable a reduction in weight and improve reliability. A rotary compressor (101) has a cylinder (24), a piston (21), and a bushing (22). The cylinder (24) includes a cylinder hole (24a). The piston (21) moves relative to the cylinder (24) in the cylinder hole (24a). The bushing (22) slides against the cylinder (24) and the piston (21) in the cylinder hole (24a). The cylinder (24) and the piston (21) are formed from an Al-Si alloy having a Si content exceeding 12.6 wt%, which is a eutectic point. The bushing (22), which is formed from steel, has a surface layer including a sliding surface (22a) that slides against the cylinder (24) and the piston (21). The surface layer is reformed so as to have greater hardness than hardness of proeutectic Si contained in the Al-Si alloy. The surface layer also has hardness of at least Hv 1000 in the sliding surface.
