    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (meth)acrylic polymer having a hydroxy group at a high rate at the terminal, to provide a curable composition using the polymer, to provide a method for producing a polymer having an alkenyl group or a cross-linkable silyl group at the terminal and derived from the above-mentioned polymer, and to provide a curable composition containing the polymer as a main component. SOLUTION: This method for producing the (meth)acrylic polymer having the hydroxy group at the terminal is characterized by polymerizing a (meth)acrylic monomer in the presence of an organic halide or a halogenated sulfonyl compound as an initiator and a metal complex containing the group 8, 9, 10 or 11 element in the periodic table as a central metal as a catalyst and then converting the halogen of the (meth)acrylic polymer having a terminal structure represented by the general formula (1): -CH 2 -C(R 1 )(CO 2 R 2 )(X) (R 1 is H or methyl; R 2 is a 1 to 20C alkyl, a 6 to 20C aryl or a 7 to 20C aryl; X is chlorine, bromine or iodine) into a hydroxy group-containing substituent.
