    • A process for preparing 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane comprising the step (A) of reducing 2,3-dichloro-1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst under an atmospheric or elevated pressure by a vapor-phase reaction, the step (B) of introducing all of the products of the step (A) into a condenser to obtain a non-condensed component comprising hydrogen and hydrogen chloride and a condensed component comprising 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane or a non-condensed component comprising hydrogen and a condensed component comprising hydrogen chloride and 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane, the step (C) of separating hydrogen from the non-condensed component of the step (B) and recycling the hydrogen to the above step (A), and the step (D) of separating 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane from the condensed component of the step (B). This process makes it possible to prepare 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane industrially efficiently and economically.
