    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for industrially efficiently producing high purity hydroxyvinylnaphthalene with a reduced content of impurities such as a tar content. SOLUTION: The process for producing the hydroxyvinylnaphthalene compound includes a step of subjecting a crude hydroxyvinylnaphthalene compound having a hydroxyl group and a vinyl group on the naphthalene ring to active carbon treatment in the presence of a phenolic radical scavenger at a temperature of 45°C or higher to perform purification. The active carbon treatment is preferably carried out in a mixed solvent of an alcohol and water. After the active carbon treatment, the process may have a step of isolating the hydroxyvinylnaphthalene compound by crystallizing operation.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently industrially producing in high yield at low cost in high operability an aryl ester having in the molecule an alcoholic hydroxy group.
