摘要： A method for preparing p-(2-hydroxyalkyloxy)styrene monomers and oligomers is described. The method comprises a base-catalyzed reaction of a styrene ester, a suitable alcohol and an alkylene oxide in a single vessel reaction. In this method, the reactive p-hydroxystyrene is generated in situ via the base-catalyzed transesterification reaction between the styrene ester and the alcohol in the presence of the base catalyst. The p-hydroxystyrene formed reacts with the alkylene oxide to form the p-(2-hydroxyalkyloxy)styrene monomer or oligomer.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tetrafluoroethylene copolymer having an unusually low crystal melting temperature and a partial crystalline structure, and useful as an auxiliary for extrusion processing of a polyolefin by specifying a hexafluoropropylene index. SOLUTION: The invention provides a partially crystalline-structured copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene having a hexafluoropropylene index(HFPI) ranging from 6.4 to 9. Preferably a copolymer containing hexafluoropropylene featured by the hexafluoropropylene index ranging from 7.3 to 9.0 and having 0.1×103-10×103 Pa.s melt viscosity(MV) is dissolved in a highly fluorinated cycloalkane or an aromatic solvent until 30 wt.% copolymer concentration to form a copolymer solution.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer blend compsn. improved in processibility by blending a polyolefin with a fluoropolymer having a low crystal melting point. SOLUTION: This compsn. comprises a polyolefin and a partially crystalline fluoropolymer in an amt. enough to improve the processibility. The fluoropolymer has a hydrogen content of 2wt.% or lower, a melt viscosity of 0.1×10 -20×10 Pa.s, and a crystal-melting end point Tm of 170-265 deg.C. More in detail, the fluoropolymer is a partially crystalline tetrafluoroethylene- hexafluoropropylene copolymer having a high hexafluoropropylene content, exhibiting a hexafluoropropylene index of 6.4 to about 9. The Tm of the fluoropolymer is pref. in the range of from a temp. 40 deg.C lower than the extrusion temp. Tp of the polyolefin to a temp. 25 deg.C higher than the extrusion temp.

摘要： Copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and hexafluoropropylene (HFP) having high HFP content and end-of-melting temperature, Tm(end), as low as 200.degree.C are disclosed. Exceptional performance as a processing aid in polyolefins results from having Tm(end) of the TFE/HFP copolymer close to the processing temperature of the polyolefin. These TFE/HFP copolymers are soluble in fluorinated cyclic solvents. Copolymer/solvent systems copolymer at significant concentrations in selected solvents are fluid and stable at room temperature.
