    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject superconductor excellent in magnetic properties by incorporating a specified amount of silver into a phase of specific composition formula with the deviation of the azimuth between crystals adherent to each other over a specified range being a specified angle or smaller. SOLUTION: First, respective stock powders of Y2 O3 , BaCO3 and CuO are weighted so as to come to a specified composition ratio, the mixture is incorporated with 0.05-5wt.% of at least one kind among Pt, Pd, Ru, Rh, Ir, Os and Re, and the resultant mixed powder is preliminarily baked at a specified temperature, Secondly, the resultant powder is ground, then incorporated with Ag powder and further ground, and then subjected to pressure molding. Thirdly, the resultant molded form is baked in an atmosphere with an oxygen partial pressure Po2 of 2×10 to 1×10 atm and brought to a semi-molten state followed by temperature fall to effect crystallization. Subsequently, the crystallized molded form is put in an oven followed by reducing pressure in the oven to about 0.1Torr and then introducing O2 into the oven, raising the temperature in the oven to a specified level and then gradually cooling to room temperature, thus obtaining the objective oxide superconductor having such characteristics that RE2 BaCuO5 phase and 1-30wt.% of Ag powder are finely dispersed in REBa2 Cu3 O7-x phase (RE is rate earth metal including Y) and the deviation of the azimuth between crystals adjacent to each other over a range of 20mm×20mm×2mm or greater being ±5 deg..
