摘要： Epoxy adhesive compositions containing a rubber-modified epoxy resin contain a bisphenol. The bisphenol can be pre-reacted with the rubber-modified epoxy resin to advance the resin. The adhesives are resistant to thermal degradation as can occur in so-called "overbake" conditions, in which the adhesive is heated to high temperatures for prolonged periods of time. In addition, expanded microballoons are included in epoxy structural adhesives to promote a desired fracture mode.

摘要： 61109-7529 A new and improved one part, induction curable epoxy adhesive composition exhibiting storage stability at temperatures of a least 41.degree.C for about two weeks, induction curable at temperatures of less than about 185.degree.C in 6 seconds or less to a green strength of at least 200 psi, and exhibiting excellent full-cured physical and environmental properties is disclosed. The adhesive compositions are rendered induction curable by a combination curing agent comprising: (i) a latent high temperature curing agent, such as dicyandiamide; (ii) a latent intermediate temperature curing agent, such as HY940 or ANCAMINE ? 2041A; and (iii) a green strength enhancing agent comprising a finely divided thermoplastic resin powder selected from the group consisting of low density polyethylene, ethylene vinyl acetate, polystyrene, polyvinyl formal, polyvinyl butyral, poly(methyl methacrylate), NYLON-12, hot melt polyester resins and mixtures of any of the foregoing resins. The compositions are especially suited for fixturing oily galvanized metal parts in accordance with contemporary automobile manufacturing methods.

摘要： A heat-curable structural adhesive includes a non-rubber-modified epoxy resin, a reaction product of a carboxyl- or amine-terminated butadiene polymer or copolymer and a bisphenol F-based epoxy resin, a elastomeric toughener containing capped isocyanate groups, one or more epoxy curing agents a moisture scavenger and a heat activatable catalyst comprising a mixture of a solid or liquid tertiary amine compound that has a boiling temperature of at least 130°C and a novolac resin. The structural adhesive develops excellent bonding properties when cured at moderate temperatures, especially from 120 to 170°C, and in addition performs very well in environmental aging stress testing. The adhesive is particularly good for bonding aluminum to another metal, or bonding aluminum to aluminum.

摘要： A heat-curable structural adhesive includes at least one non-rubber-modified epoxy resin; an optional rubber or toughener, one or more epoxy curing agents, one or more epoxy curing catalysts; and a flame retardant mixture that includes (i) alumina trihydrate, (ii) zinc borate and (iii) melamine or a melamine derivative. The structural adhesive is useful for bonding metals to other materials or metals to other metals. The structural adhesive strongly resists ignition when welding is performed in the presence of the uncured material, and does not interfere significantly with weld performance.
