摘要： A core needle biopsy device includes a needle assembly, a drive assembly, and a tissue sample holder. The needle assembly includes a piercer and a hollow cutter. The piercer includes a sharp distal tip and a notch proximal to the distal tip. The piercer is slidably disposed within the cutter to sever a tissue sample into the notch of the piercer. The drive assembly is configured to selectively move the piercer and the cutter. The tissue sample holder has a sample chamber and a wiper. The wiper is movable relative to the piercer and cutter to manipulate a severed tissue sample into the sample chamber.

摘要： A biopsy device includes a body, a needle, a cutter, an analysis area, a valve, and a tissue sample holder. The cutter is movable relative to the needle and in communication with the needle for transporting tissue samples. The analysis area is disposed proximally of the cutter and in communication with the needle to receive a tissue sample cut by the cutter for analysis by a user. The valve is disposed proximally of the analysis area and configured to alternate between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The tissue sample holder is disposed proximally of the valve and fixedly attached to the body. The valve is configured to permit analysis of the sample disposed in the analysis area when the valve is in the closed configuration and to permit the tissue sample to be passed into the tissue sample holder when the valve is in the open configuration configuration.

摘要： A biopsy device includes a probe, a holster, and a tissue sample holder for collecting tissue samples. The probe includes a needle and a hollow cutter. The tissue sample holder includes a housing having a plurality of chambers that are configured to receive a plurality of strips connected by at least one flexible member. The flexible member is configured to permit the strips to pivot relative to each other such that the strips can shift between a flat configuration and a arcuate configuration. The tissue sample holder is rotatable to successively index each chamber to the cutter lumen such that tissue samples may be collected in the strips. The strips may be removed from the tissue sample holder and placed in a tissue sample holder container for imaging of tissue samples.

摘要： A marker delivery device, "adaptor", for a MRI breast biopsy system is described and claimed. The marker adaptor for the MRI breast biopsy device provides the operator with the ability to easily mark after an MRI biopsy procedure through the biopsy sleeve. The flexible shaft marker snaps into the marking adaptor which creates the oval shape that mates with the inner surface of the sleeve. This locks the orientation of the sleeve and marker, with adaptor, together. The marker adaptor also contains a hard-stop which allows the user to place the biopsy marker in the correct location.

The apparatus includes a cannula, an obturator; and an obturator actuation assembly, which is described as an "overshoot obturator". The overshoot obturator is designed to give the physician the ability to set the z-lock to the targeted depth, then move the obturator forward, relative to the sleeve to cut additional tissue. This reduces the tissue force which can push the obturator out of the desired biopsy location.
