    • The invention relates to a bending and retaining device (10), especially for tubes, cables and pipes, that consists of an at least partially closed flexible hollow body that is open at its two front faces and that has a substantially tubular enveloping surface. Said hollow body consists of individual flexible members (22) that are interconnected by angularly mobile links (12). The freely accessible front faces (28, 29) of a flexible member form an acute angle the open side of which is oriented towards the links. The inventive device is further designed in such a manner that the link is a defined one-dimensional joint and that snap-in elements (42) are located at the side of the device opposite the links, said snap-in elements interlinking the adjacent links in a form-fit manner without use of an additional retaining device when the inventive device is bent. The invention provides a device for shaping and retaining tubes that facilitates a substantially uniform shape while being freely bendable and that maintains the bend obtained even if the external conditions change.

    • The invention relates to a gas analyser for medical diagnostics. Characteristic, gaseous substances and released from solid, liquid or gaseous egesta or from cultures of pathogenic organisms or parasites in the event of a disease. The gas analyser converts said substances or changes in the gas composition into signal patterns, whereby said changes correlate with the disease. The gas analyser compares said signal patterns to characteristic signal patterns of gaseous substances which emanate during the occurrence of known diseases, whereby said signal patterns were previously stored in a data base. The gas analyser is characterised in that it is provided with a sensor array that consists of one or several gas sensors. At least one of said sensors is a specific detector for a suctioned gas that is used for adjusting a constant concentration in a sensor chamber. The gas analyser is provided with an additional gas sensor or an additional sensor array that consists of several sensors, whereby at least one sensor is a specific or non-specific detector for a characteristic gaseous substance which is linked to a disease. The gas analyser contains a diluting unit by means of which a certain concentration of the components contained in the gas volume can be adjusted.

    • 21,313. Kessler, P. Sept. 17, 1908, [Convention date]. Measuring. - Lengths of woven fabrics are measured by a machine which draws the material forward on an endless belt by means of gripping-rails which are released from the fabric after moving forward through one unit of length, and which, while the fabric is held by retaining - rails, return to their original position to seize the fabric again and draw it forward. The side pieces 7, 8 of the machine frame carry slides 14, in which work an internally toothed rack 13 consisting of two vertical and two horizontal parts, with which gear pinions 15 mounted on a spindle 17 passing through the gripping- rail 1. The gripping- rail 2 is normally pressed on to the rail 1 by a spring 24 passing round a stud 20 attached to rollers 23 on the rail 2, a handle 30 being provided to move them apart to insert a new piece of fabric. The retaining-rail 4 is mounted on the frame, and the rail 3 is mounted on pins 9 thereon and is normally held away from the rail 4 against the action of the spring 21, by a pin 19 on the rack engaging with, and depressing, the end of a lever 22. An endless belt 10 is passed over pulleys 11, 12, and is gripped with the fabric 5 between rails 1, 2, which then move towards rails 3, 4. When the pinion 15 reaches the end of the rack, it acts on the vertical end and passes the rack, thus moving the pin 19 from the lever 22, and allowing the retaining - blocks to grip the fabric. Further movement results in the return of the pinion 15 and the racks 1, 2, the pinion working on the lower side of the rack, the rail 2 having meanwhile been raised by a projection 18 raising the rollers 23. The rail 2 is held away from the rail 1 by a catch, which is removed by a pin 26 when the initial position is reached, after which the lowering of the rack again presses up the rail 4. The pinions 15 are constantly rotated through chains mounted on links 31, 32; and movement of one end of the rack is transferred by levers 27, 28 to the other end. An indicator of any construction shows the length of material measured.
