    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for vehicle, which reduces a contaminant concentration in a cabin and prevents air having a high contaminant concentration in the air outside the vehicle from entering the cabin.SOLUTION: An air conditioner 1 for vehicle comprises: an inside/outside air switching door 8 for selectively switching between an outside air introduction port 7 and an inside air introduction port 6; required time calculating means 42 for calculating a required time needed for an own vehicle to reach an air pollution area; in-cabin concentration detecting means 50 for detecting a contaminant concentration in the air inside the cabin; and ventilation time calculating means 51 for calculating a ventilation time needed for a detected value by the in-cabin concentration detecting means 50 to drop until a predetermined condition is met after opening the outside air introduction port 7. An actuator 9 controls the inside/outside air switching door 8 in such a manner that it opens the outside air introduction port 7 before the required time becomes shorter than the ventilation time and closes the outside air introduction port 7 after the lapse of the ventilation time.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely change over between inside air/outside air modes in the places where a variation in noise is small.
      SOLUTION: It is determined whether cooling load in a cabin is larger than a predetermined value or not. When the cooling load is determined to be smaller than the predetermined value, the outside mode is selected. When the cooling load is determined to be larger than the predetermined value, a blower voltage BLWo for inside air/outside air modes is calculated according to a blower voltage BLW. The blower voltage BLWo for inside air/outside air modes is so determined as to be increased when the blower voltage BLW is increased and maintained constant even if the blower voltage BLW is varied within a predetermined range. When the blower voltage BLWo for inside air/outside air modes is larger than the predetermined blower voltage, the inside air mode is determined. When the blower voltage BLWo for inside air/outside air modes is smaller than the predetermined blower voltage, a semi-inside air mode is determined.
