    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine capable of maintaining insulation between a coil extension part and a metal member and suppressing entry of foreign matters from a controller side to a rotor side.SOLUTION: A stator 21 is provided inside a motor case 20. A coil 22 is wound around a stator 21. A coil extension part 23 is provided so as to be extended from the coil 22. A rotor 30 is provided rotatably inside the stator 21. A first plate part 40 covers one end of the motor case 20. A second plate part 50 is made of metal, and covers the other end of the motor case 20, and has an insertion hole part 53 into which the coil extension part 23 is inserted. A controller 60 is provided on an opposite side to the motor case 20, of the second plate part 50, and connected to the coil extension part 23 to control energization to the coil 22. A bush 70 is cylindrically-formed by an insulator, and provided in the insertion hole part 53 so as to abut on an inner wall of the insertion hole part 53 in a state that the coil extension part 23 is inserted therein.

This protects switching elements 61-66 of the power converter 60 and elements of a smoothing capacitor 67 or the like from the regenerative voltage, thereby preventing damage and lower lifetime due to overvoltage.
