摘要： A press mounted cam (38) has a slide (38) guided on an adapter (40) by structural features including as one or more T blocks (48) fixed to the slide (38) and received in a respective channel (50) formed in the adapter (40). In an aerial cam embodiment, a vertical clearance space (58) is provided between the T block (48) and adapter channel (50) such that positive driving engagement between cam surfaces (60 and 62) on the slide and the adapter is momentarily delayed after the initial engagement of the slide (38) and driver (44) surfaces to let the momentum of the slide (38) be absorbed prior to the beginning of positive driving by the press motion, reducing shock and noise. The slide (38) is laterally located with respect to the driver (44) by an upwardly projecting locator-guide key on the driver (80) received in a central channel (82) in the slide (38). A positive return is provided by engagement of a driver key (152) having T features received in a T-shaped slide channel (158) and captured therein when the slide is driven laterally. This engagement creates a positive return of the slide (38) when the press upper platen (84) is raised.
