    • A benzimidazolone compound is disclosed which has a plurality of hues in a single structural formula and good dispersibility in a binder resin and thus is useful as a pigment. The benzimidazolone compound is further useful as a pigment since it suffers little aggregation even when two or more kinds of the compound having different hues are used at the same time for obtaining an aimed hue. The benzimidazolone compound is represented by the following general formula (1): (wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms or an alkoxy group having 1-5 carbon atoms; and R5 and R6 independently represent an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photoreceptor which is sufficient in the improvement of image characteristics and may be easily and stably produced for a long period of time by using pigments treated with active energy rays and/or active gases as n type semiconductor pigments and/or p type semiconductor pigments. SOLUTION: This electrophotographic photoreceptor is constituted by forming photosensitive layers 2, which are successively laminated with a first charge generating transfer layer 6 formed by dispersing the n type semiconductor pigments 3 in a binder resin 5, a second charge generating layer 7 formed by dispersing the p type semiconductor pigments 4 in the binder resin 5 and a second charge layer 8 formed by dispersing a charge generating material and a hole transfer material in the resin in this order, on a conductive substrate 1. The n type semiconductor pigments 3 and/or the p type semiconductor pigments 4 are the pigments treated with the active energy rays and/or the active gases. The n type semiconductor pigments and/or the active gas treatment is preferably executed by irradiating the pigments with the active energy rays in the presence of the active gases and/or under the flow of, for example, the active gases. The samples of the active gases include, for example, gases, such as, oxygen or ozone, and compds. which turn to gases of hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, etc.
