摘要： PURPOSE:To shorten the man-hours for production and to improve machinability by subjecting the BN-contg. free-cutting steel for machine structural purposes which contains specific ratios of B and N and is regulated in the contents of Ti, Zr, REM, and O to specific forging and hardening. CONSTITUTION:The BN-contg. free-cutting steel for machine structural purposes which contains 0.0040 to 0.0100wt.% B, 0.0050 to 0.0200% N, =5 minutes at the temp. of the Ar3 point to 1000 deg.C and is then hardened at the time of forging and hardening. The man-hours for production is shortened in this way and the BN is stably and finely deposited, by which the machinability is improved without impairing the mechanical properties and without fluctuations.

Next, this machine parts are subjected to induction hardening, by which the machine structural parts excellent in bearing fatigue strength can be obtd.

T deg.C between its A1 transformation point to [254XV +840] (where V denotes the content of V in the steel), is successively subjected to nitrifying treatment and is thereafter hardened. The area ratio coarse carbides with >=10mum length and that of fine carbides with =30% and >=2%, and the C concn. of the surface layer is regulated to (0.0034XT-2.2)%.

摘要： PURPOSE:To allow simultaneous martensite transformation of the respective parts of a material to be treated without generating temp. differences in the respective parts by rapidly cooling the material held at a hardening temp. by a high-temp. coolant to uniformize the temp., then rapidly immersing the material into a low-temp. coolant. CONSTITUTION:The material to be treated held at the prescribed hardening temp. is rapidly cooled with the high-temp. coolant of the temp. slightly higher than the martensite transformation initializing temp. and is held immersed therein for a prescribed period of time to uniformize the temp. in the respective parts of the material to be treated. Then, the material is rapidly cooled by immersing the material in the low-temp. coolant of the temp. lower than the martensite transformation initializing temp. The martensite transformation of the material to be treated progresses during this cooling but the temp. differences hardly arise in the respective parts of the material to be treated. Since the martensite transformation progresses simultaneously at the same ratios in the respective parts of the material to be treated, the generation of hardening strains and the fluctuations thereof is decreased.
