The housing defines a central compartment therein. The housing comprises a key slot disposed on the first housing end and a housing key element protruding from the first housing end toward the second housing end. The filtration system further comprises a filter element positioned within the central compartment of the housing. The filter element has a first filter end and a second filter end. The filter element includes filter media and an endplate disposed on the first filter end. The endplate includes a central endplate opening, a key element configured for engagement with the key slot, and an installation guidance element formed along the central endplate opening. The installation guidance element is configured for engagement with the housing key element.

摘要： Various embodiments disclosed herein relate to a filter element having a seal that functions as an anti-drain seal. The seal prevents fluid being filtered (e.g., fuel) from flowing back to a fluid storage tank (e.g., a fuel tank) through a drain in the filter housing when the filter element is in an installed position within the filter housing. The seal and the filter housing allow fluid to flow back to the fluid storage tank when the filter element is being removed from the filter housing (e.g., during a filter change service). The seal is removably coupled to the filter element such that the seal can be reused with replacement filter elements. The seal also functions as an engine integrity protection mechanism. Thus, the seal performs functions as a sealing device, draining device, and engine integrity protection feature.
