摘要： An adapter assembly is provided for fluid communication and mechanical connection between a catheter and a syringe. The adapter assembly includes a generally tubular nose having opposed proximal and distal ends. A wall is disposed at the distal end and includes an aperture dimensioned for receiving the catheter therethrough. A compressible plug is received in the open proximal end of the nose and seats against the wall. The plug includes an axial passage for receiving the catheter. Outer portions of the plug are tapered near the proximal end. The assembly further includes a hub having opposed proximal and distal ends. The proximal end of the hub includes luer projections for threaded engagement with a luer collar of a syringe. The distal end of the hub is threadedly engageable in the opened proximal end of the nose. Internal portions of the hub adjacent the distal ends are tapered and dimensioned to gradually compress the plug into fluid-tight engagement against the catheter without generating occlusion.

摘要： Electrode systems and methods are provided for applying electrical stimulation to a wound or skin. The electrode systems may include a feedback sensor configured to detect at least one wound healing factor or other treatment factors and may adjust the electrical stimulation based on feedback sensor measurements. The electrode systems may include multiple center electrodes for attachment to the wound. Multiple therapies may be stored on the electrode systems and a selected one of the stored therapies may be applied. A timer may be included to indicate the length of time a therapy has been applied. The electrode system may include a control module configured as a flexible circuit which conforms to the shape of the wound or the skin to which it is applied. In addition, a medical kit may be supplied for use in applying therapies, including multiple control modules and multiple electrodes.

摘要： An apparatus is disclosed for guiding a medical instrument to a predetermined target location within the periurethral tissues of a patient. The apparatus directs the instrument along a predetermined path with respect to the patient's urethra and limits penetration of the instrument to a predetermined depth. The disclosed embodiment comprises an apparatus for implanting inflatable prostheses within the periurethral tissues to coapt the urethra and thereby manage incontinence.A method for effecting coaptation of a urethra of a patient is also disclosed. According to this method, a pair of working channels are formed within the periurethral tissues, and an inflatable prosthesis is introduced into each working channel. The prostheses are inflated only after both working channels have been formed, and preferably after both prostheses have been positioned within their respective working channels. The inflated prostheses confront the urethra and effect coaptation of the urethra.
