    • A method and system for synchronization in a wireless communication network using a plurality of synchronization frames (SF) and ciao frames (CF) distributed across a configurable period, termed as synchronization activity period (SAP) is disclosed. The periodicity of the SAP could be configured, to align with the data exchange periodicity. The length of the SAP is configurable; it is directly proportional to its periodicity and inversely proportional to the number of attempts and duration the unsynchronized nodes will make to listen to the synchronization information. This method provides a mechanism in which the network can configure the synchronization periodicity based on the data exchange periodicity and also it distributes the synchronization load among all its associated nodes to optimize the power efficiency.

    • An authentication method and system is provided for asynchronous eventing between a client and a server over the Internet. In a subscription phase, the client sends a subscription request to the server to express interest in receiving notifications associated with one or more particular events that may asynchronously occur on the server. The client authenticates the server by checking the identity of the server, and if the client determines that the server can be trusted, the client subscribes the notifications, otherwise, the client does not subscribe. After a successful subscription, in a notification phase, the server notifies each client that has subscribed for a particular type of event. Each client upon receiving a notification, authenticates the server by verifying that the received notification is sent by the server with which the client subscribed for the notification.

    • A microcontroller with embedded software for automatically detecting a baud rate of an asynchronous serial bit stream during an initial set up phase of a microcontroller. The microcontroller is configured to receive a data set from a transmitter and includes a transition detector for identifying bit transitions in the data set. The microcontroller includes a timer triggered by the transition detector that is measures the time interval between two predefined bit transitions, a storage element for registering the measured time interval, and a look up table that provides defines baud rates relative to various time intervals that can be accessed to determine a nearest baud rate value corresponding to the registered time interval.
