摘要： In one of the preferred embodiments, an inkjet printhead includes a nozzle member formed of a polymer material that has been laser-ablated to form tapered inkjet orifices. The nozzle member is then mounted to a substrate containing heating elements, each heating element being associated with a single orifice. In a preferred method, the orifices are formed by Excimer laser ablation.In other aspects of the invention, vaporization chambers as well as ink channels, providing fluid communication between an ink reservoir and the orifices, are also formed by Excimer laser ablation.

摘要： A miniaturized column analytical apparatus having a miniaturized column device containing a body with an elongate separation compartment is provided. Two or more sets of spaced apart antennas are positioned along the elongate separation compartment. The elongate separation compartment has first and second opposing sides along its elongate dimension. Each set of antenna contains a plurality of antennas. One antenna from each set is associated with at least one antenna from each of the other sets to form repeating sequences of antennas along the separation compartment on the opposing sides of the separation compartment. Each set of the antennas is associated with a different oscillating electrical potential to provide a plurality of oscillating electric fields along the elongate separation compartment to draw a target substance along the elongate separation compartment toward an exit end of the separation compartment. The detector can detect a target substance passing out of the elongate separation compartment.

摘要： A method and mold for creating nanoscale patterns in an ion-selective polymer membrane is provided, in which a mold comprising a substrate and a molding layer having at least one protruding feature is imprinted on the ion-selective polymer membrane, thereby creating a recessed feature in the membrane. Protruding features having nanoscale dimensions can be created, e.g., by using self-assembled nanostructures as a shadow mask for etching a molding layer. In one embodiment, an imprinted ion selective polymer membrane, suitable for use as a solid electrolyte, is adapted for use in an electrochemical device or fuel cell by adding a metal catalyst to one portion of the membrane to serve as a catalytic electrode.

Additionally, a method of encapsulating pigments can comprise dispersing a pigment in an aqueous solution to form a pigment dispersion, adding a monomer to the pigment dispersion, adding a RAFT reagent to the pigment dispersion, and polymerizing the monomer using the RAFT reagent in the presence of the pigment to form an encapsulated pigment. Further, the present disclosure provides ink-jet inks comprising the encapsulated pigments.
