    • The disclosure provides systems and methods for helping authenticate products and registrations of such products. One method for providing a product comprises providing a product associated with a first identifier, such as a serial number, to a customer. The method further includes providing a registration form with a second identifier to the customer. This registration form is associated with the product and the second identifier comprises an encrypted form of the first identifier. One method for verifying a product registration comprises receiving a registration form from a customer, with the registration form including a first identifier and a second identifier. Normally, the second identifier comprises an encrypted value. A decrypted value of the second identifier is then compared to the first identifier. The registration form may then be verified if the decrypted value and the first identifier are substantially similar.

    • The desired course line or rhumb line of a ship is predetermined just before the ship leaves a harbor and is inputted to the autopilot of a ship's automatic course control unit. When the ship is underway a gyro compass indicates the course of the ship during its movement out of the harbor and a position receiver in the control unit generates signals responding to the actual position of the ship (its heading) and supplies the signals to a computer unit which senses any deviation of the ship due to its lateral drift from the predetermined course line. In response to the signals the autopilot computes a new course necessary to correct the course of the ship, and automatically adjusts the heading of the ship to the new course to return the ship to the predetermined course line.

    • In a method for examining a body region executing a periodic motion in an examination subject with a diagnostic apparatus having a radiation source for generating radiation penetrating the examination subject and a detector system for the radiation emanating from the radiation source, the intensity of the radiation emanating from the radiation source is modulated between a reference value and a reduced value compared to the reference value, substantially synchronously with the movement, so that the reference value is present during a phase of the periodic motion to be imaged with the diagnostic apparatus, and substantially only the data that were output by the detector system during the presence of the reference value of the radiation are utilized for the determination of the image.
