    • According to one embodiment, an apparatus for detecting and preventing tampering with a programmable digital device. The apparatus comprises a one-time programmable (OTP) memory that includes a plurality of memory cells to store data. The plurality of memory cells may be programmed to a default state or a state opposite the default state. A tamper detection circuit is coupled to these memory cells in order to sense a condition when each bit associated with the plurality of memory cells is programmed to the state opposite the default state. In response to detecting this condition, it is considered that the programmable digital device implemented with the apparatus has been tampered with and operations are performed to combat the tampering of the digital device.

    • A digital video system, method, and computer program product for correcting corrupted digital video transport streams is described. The digital video system may include a digital cable, digital broadcast satellite (DBS), high definition television (HDTV), or video-on demand (VOD) system. In a VOD system, a VOD client at each receiver is capable of subscribing to one or more VOD sessions. The headend includes a video server and a control server that is coupled to the video server. The video server transmits one or more VOD sessions to one or more receivers over a transport stream. The control server can also cause the video server to transmit one or more dummy sessions to maintain a predetermined minimum bandwidth of content over the transport stream. Alternatively, the headend can transmit one or more null packets having a randomized payload, as necessary, to maintain a constant bit rate over the transport stream.

    • The present invention is a method and apparatus for providing stereo audio signals is disclosed. The circuit for providing stereo audio signals comprises an interface circuit coupled to receive an audio signal. The interface circuit has an analog-to-digital converter for digitizing the audio signal to provide a first audio input signal and a second audio input signal. A first processing circuit coupled to the interface circuit is configured to generate a first audio output signal based on the first audio input signal. A second processing circuit coupled to the interface circuit is configured to generate a second audio output signal based on the second audio input signal. The circuit further comprises a processor coupled to the interface circuit and a memory for storing instruction sequences. The processor executes the stored instruction sequences, wherein the stored instruction sequences include process steps to cause the processor to generate a third audio input signal based on the first and the second audio input signals. A third processing circuit coupled to the processor is configured to generate a third audio output signal based on the third audio input signal.

    • An apparatus for aligning an antenna, for example an antenna of home satellite receiver system, includes means for detecting a received signal strength of a signal received at the antenna. Coupled to the detecting means are means for generating a display signal indicative of the received signal strength. The means for generating are configured to provide a first display signal when the received signal strength is in first state and to provide a second display signal when the received signal strength is in second state. Coupled to the means for generating the display signal are means for displaying the display signal. The means for displaying are capable of responding to both the first display signal and the second display signal. The first display signal may be a signal having a frequency proportional to the received signal strength. The second display signal may be a signal having a frequency proportional to the inverse of a difference between maximum received signal strength and a current received signal strength, thus providing a measure of antenna alignment error.
