    • EAS marker, in one embodiment, comprises a self-lockable loop fastener. The self-lockable loop fastener comprises an elongated strap having a first end and a second end, the second end being provided with a plurality of teeth. The self-lockable loop fastener also comprises a paddle disposed at the first end of the strap. The paddle includes a recess and a locking head. The second end of the strap is insertable into, but not through, the locking head, the locking head having a tang for lockably engaging the teeth in such a way as to prevent withdrawal of the strap from the locking head and thereby forming a locked loop of fixed size. The EAS marker also includes a resonator disposed within the recess of the paddle for emitting, when armed, a response signal in response to an interrogation signal transmitted by an EAS system, a biasing element disposed within the recess and positioned relative to the resonator so that, when the biasing element is magnetized, the resonator is armed; a separator disposed within the recess between the resonator and the biasing element for physically separating the resonator and the biasing element; and a cover secured to the paddle to encapsulate the resonator, the separator and the biasing element within the recess and to prevent access to and tampering with the tang and the locking head.

    • A cable tie is used in conjunction with a cable tie installation tool to bundle a plurality of objects, such as wires or cables. The cable tie includes a head and a tail, the head having a pair of outwardly projecting wings. The tail is capable of insertion through the head so that the cable tie takes the shape of a loop with the tail engaging and being locked in position by a pawl inside the head, the tail being incapable of removal once it is inserted in the head. The cable tie installation tool includes a housing which is adapted to receive an individually loaded cable tie and which protects internal components of the tool. A transport assembly, which includes a motor driven belt, advances the tail of the cable tie around the plurality of objects to be bundled. A jaw assembly, which includes an upper jaw and a lower jaw that are driven by a motor into open, closed and overdosed positions, guides the tail through the head to form the cable tie into a closed loop around the desired bundle. A cinch assembly, which includes a pair of spaced apart, motor driven cinch knurls, further advances the tail through the head so as to reduce the size of the closed loop around the desired bundle. A tension monitoring device establishes and monitors a maximum tension level for the closed loop around the bundle, the device terminating activation of the cinch assembly upon detecting the maximum tension level. A cut assembly, which includes a knife blade coupled to a solenoid, severs the excess portion of the tail fed through the head once the tension monitoring device terminates activation of the cinch assembly.

    • A system for dispensing a fastener from a reel of fastener stock to couple together two or more objects comprises a module for dispensing the plastic fastener and a mounting stand on which the module is mounted. The mounting stand includes a vertical leg, a first horizontal leg, a second horizontal leg and a pair of spaced apart, parallel shafts extending between the first and second horizontal legs. A linear ball bearing is slidably mounted onto each of the shafts. A bearing mount is fixedly mounted onto each of the linear ball bearings. A bracket is fixedly mounted onto the pair of bearing mounts. The module is mounted onto the bracket and is capable of linear displacement. Upper and lower adjustable collars are fixed in place on the pair of shafts to limit the range of the linear displacement of the module.

    • A one-piece cable tie includes a locking head and an attached strap, the locking head being adapted to receive and selectively engage a portion of the strap when the tie is formed into a closed loop. The cable tie additionally includes a fastener formed onto the locking head that is designed for connection with the electrical connector for an oxygen sensor for an automotive emissions control system. The fastener includes a flattened platform that is spaced away from the top surface of the locking head by an inverted T-shaped standoff, the flattened platform being sized and shaped to be slidably disposed within a corresponding slot formed in the electrical connector. A ratchet tooth is formed onto the flat top surface of the platform and is shaped to engage the electrical connector in order to retain the fastener secured within the slot in the electrical connector.

    • A one-piece cable tie includes a locking head and an attached strap, the locking head being adapted to receive and selectively engage a portion of the strap when the tie is formed into a closed loop. The cable tie additionally includes an insert fastener formed onto the locking head that is sized and shaped to be retained within a rectangular slot formed in a panel. The insert fastener includes a pair of spaced apart, parallel arms which extend orthogonally away from an outer end wall of the locking head, a cross-member extending transversely across the free ends of the pair of arms and a pair of offset retention fingers. Each retention finger is connected at one end to the cross-member and is capable of being independently pivotally displaced along an arcuate path. As a result of the offset design of its retention fingers, the cable tie can be manufactured as a unitary plastic member using simplified and inexpensive molding techniques.

    • A cable tie includes a locking head and an attached strap, the locking head being adapted to receive and engage the strap when the tie is formed into a closed loop. The cable tie additionally includes a fir-tree fastener connected to the locking head by an elongated standoff that includes a stem and an enlarged member which separates the stem into first and second sections. In use, a plurality of wires bundled together by the tie can be secured to an automotive valve cover by inserting the fastener and the first section of the stem through a corresponding bore formed in the valve cover. With tie inserted as such, the second section of the stem serves to space the bundled wires away from the valve cover, with the first section of the stem and the enlarged member together serving to stabilize the tie within the bore of the valve cover.

    • A combination hearing protector and communication device may be incorporated into a set of earmuffs or earplugs, meeting the needs of workers who must work in hazardous noise environments and who must be able to communicate with each other as well as with persons outside the hazardous noise environment. Each unit of the system has two channels, one to transmit speech and one to receive speech. While each wearer will have an independent transmission channel, all wearers can use the same receiving channel. The system is designed to be incorporated into earmuffs or earplugs in such a way that their noise-reducing characteristics are not diminished. The system incorporated into the earmuff is no more difficult to use than a conventional pair of noise-reducing earmuffs in that nothing additional need be fitted into or onto the ears. Likewise, the system incorporated into the earplugs is as easy to use as custom-molded noise-reducing earplugs which are corded to keep them together.
