摘要： A contact device for an exercising apparatus (1,102), in particular an abdominal exercising, comprising a body having a front contact side comprising a plurality of contact surfaces (40,42,44,46,48,50,141,143,145,147,149,151), said device further comprising means (54,162) for coupling said body to an exercising apparatus. Preferably said contact device provides a large contact area for the abdomen. In the preferred embodiment, the contact device comprises a substantially convex shape with respect to the vertical dimension of a subject's abdomen, a substantially flat shape with respect to the horizontal dimension of a subject's abdomen, and an outline that is shaped like a disk with a flattened top and bottom, thereby engaging a larger abdominal area than prior art devices. A vertical channel (28) and two horizontal channels (38,40,138,140) divide the device into six sections that make separate contact with a subject's abdomen. In a preferred embodiment, the individual sections have padded surfaces (51) to increase user comfort.

摘要： This invention is an abdominal exercise apparatus (70) comprising a platform (72) having two upwardly extending sidewalls (74, 76). Positioned between the sidewalls and over the platform is an adjustable belt (92) including an abdominal pad (104). The belt is connected to the platform by elastic cords (112-118) which extend from either side of the belt through the sidewalls and attach underneath the platform on a series of hooks (122). In use, the belt is tightened across the abdomen of a user so that as the user rotates forward in a 'sit-up'-type or 'crunch'-type exercise, the abdominal pad and elastic cords provide direct resitance to the abdomen for an isometric and kinetic abdominal exercise.
