    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic converter capable of suppressing an increase in pressure loss due to deposition of a particulate matter (PM) in an exhaust gas.SOLUTION: The catalytic converter 10 is formed so that a catalytic layer 5 is supported to a honeycomb base 1 including a cell 3 constituted of a porous partition wall 2. Both side openings of the cell 3 are alternately sealed by a sealing part 4 and a checker pattern is defined at an inflow end and an outflow end of a gas. A ratio of the coat occupancy of the catalytic layer 5 in a region 1a on the inflow end side to the coat occupancy of the whole catalytic layer 5 of the catalytic converter 10 is controlled lower by 10% or more. A ratio of a noble metal catalyst in the region 1a on the inflow end side to that in the whole region 1a on the inflow end side is 6% or less. A ratio of the noble metal catalyst in an inlet region 2A of the region 1a on the inflow end side to that in the whole inlet region 2A of the region 1a on the inflow end side is 5% or less.
