摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst composition which can inhibit solid solution of rhodium in a carrier, can sufficiently inhibit deterioration of catalytic activity, and can ensure sufficient catalytic activity even if the use amount of rhodium is reduced.SOLUTION: In the catalyst composition, rhodium and at least one transition metal selected from the group consisting of manganese, iron, cobalt, and nickel are coexistently carried on the carrier containing at least alumina. In such a catalyst composition, as rhodium and at least one transition metal selected from the group consisting of manganese, iron, cobalt, and nickel are coexistently carried on the carrier containing at least alumina, the rhodium and the transition metal can be alloyed together, thereby inhibiting the solid solution of rhodium in the carrier to sufficiently inhibit the deterioration of the catalytic activity. As a result, sufficient catalytic activity can be ensured even if the use amount of rhodium is reduced.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, the catalytic activity of which is restrained from being deteriorated due to the grain growth of a noble metal and which can achieve excellent catalytic activity over a long period of time and to provide a method for producing the catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas.SOLUTION: The catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas contains: a first compound oxide having 0.2-5 μm average secondary particle size; a second compound oxide having 0.005-0.1 μm average secondary particle size; and the noble metal included in the first compound oxide and/or the second compound oxide. The noble metal can be restrained from being moved and grown as grains on the surface of each of the first compound oxide and the second compound oxide in the catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas. As a result, the catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas can achieve excellent catalytic activity over a long period of time.

A ratio of the coat occupancy of the catalytic layer 5 in a region 1a on the inflow end side to the coat occupancy of the whole catalytic layer 5 of the catalytic converter 10 is controlled lower by 10% or more. A ratio of a noble metal catalyst in the region 1a on the inflow end side to that in the whole region 1a on the inflow end side is 6% or less. A ratio of the noble metal catalyst in an inlet region 2A of the region 1a on the inflow end side to that in the whole inlet region 2A of the region 1a on the inflow end side is 5% or less.
