    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a fuel consumption required for forcibly regenerating a PM filter.
      SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device comprises an oxidation catalyst 20 and a PM filter catalyst 30 disposed on an exhaust gas downstream side of the oxidation catalyst 20 for collecting particulates in exhaust gas. The oxidation catalyst 20 has a plurality of straight cells 21 in which the exhaust gas directly flows, straight cell partition walls 22 separating the straight cells 21 from each other, oxidation catalytic layers formed on the surfaces of the straight cell partition walls 22 and partially closed parts 24 serving as the collection parts of a construction capable of collecting a part of the PM in the exhaust gas passing through the straight cells 21. When fuel of a high temperature of about 600°C or more is supplied to the oxidation catalyst 20 in forcibly regenerating the PM filter catalyst 30, the PM accumulated in the partially closed parts 24 is burned and generates heat and this heat can be used for regeneration of the PM filter.
