摘要： When sheets are successively fed by a sheet feeding apparatus including a retard roller, the position of the leading end of each of the sheets being conveyed varies. Therefore, intervals between the conveyed sheets vary.
When a retard roller 55 is rotating in a sheet feeding direction, the rotation is transmitted to a pickup roller 53 and the pickup roller 53 rotates in a direction for conveying the sheet. When the retard roller 55 is rotating in a direction opposite to the sheet feeding direction or is stationary, the pickup roller 53 does not feed the sheet. Therefore, in a successive feeding operation, the sheet to be fed next is always conveyed such that the leading end thereof reaches a nip position between a feed roller 54 and the retard roller 55. Therefore, the intervals between the sheets are uniform in the successive feeding operation.

摘要： In a conventional device that performs obliquity correction by blocking the leading end of a sheet, it was difficult to improve the throughput in sheet conveyance by increasing the sheet conveyance speed and by reducing the intervals between sheets that are conveyed sequentially. A sheet conveying device includes a blocking member having a blocking surface with which a leading end of a sheet that is being conveyed comes into contact for obliquity correction, whereby the leading end of the sheet can be blocked, the blocking member rotating by being pushed by the leading end of the sheet that is being conveyed. The blocking member is rotatable to be in a sheet-passage-allowing orientation in which the sheet is allowed to pass. After a trailing end of the sheet that is being conveyed has passed the blocking member, the blocking member that is in the sheet-passage-allowing orientation rotates in a same direction as a sheet conveyance direction and is positioned to be in a standby position.

摘要： In a related-art sheet detecting device including a flag rotating while being in contact with the leading edge of a sheet, it is difficult to improve productivity related to sheet conveyance by increasing a sheet conveying speed or reducing the interval between sheets successively conveyed.
A sheet detecting device includes a sensor flag member 23 that is pressed and rotated by the leading edge of a conveyed sheet. The sensor flag member 23 is on standby in a standby position where the leading edge of the conveyed sheet abuts an abutment surface of the sensor flag member 23. An optical sensor 24 detects the conveyed sheet on the basis of a posture of the sensor flag member 23 pressed by the leading edge of the conveyed sheet. The sensor flag member 23 is rotatable to a sheet passage posture where the sheet is allowed to pass. After the trailing edge of the conveyed sheet passes the sensor flag member 23, the sensor flag member 23 is rotated from the sheet passage posture in the same direction as a sheet conveying direction and is positioned in the standby position.
