    • The present invention provides an image heating apparatus including: a conveying roller for conveying the recording material; a heat supply member which supplies heat to the conveying roller, the heat supply member being in contact with an external periphery of the conveying roller to form a heating nip portion; a back-up member which forms a conveying nip portion in cooperation with the conveying roller for nipping and conveying the recording material; wherein, in a rotating direction of the conveying roller, the heating nip portion has a width larger than a width of the conveying nip portion, and a total pressure applied to the conveying nip portion is larger than a total pressure applied to the heating nip portion.

    • The heating apparatus of a surface-heating type, includes a rotary member, an opposing member that forms a nip with respect to the rotary member, and a heating member for heating a portion of a rotary member surface other than the nip, in which temperature used for heating the rotary member by the heating member is controlled, and a heating material inserted in the nip to be nipped and conveyed therein is heated using heat of the rotary member. Accordingly, after insertion of the heating material in the nip starts, control temperature of the heating member is increased before the rotary member rotates by one revolution, thereby preventing an uneven heating phenomenon of the heating material in the first revolution and the second revolution or later, and preventing uneven gloss due to the uneven heating phenomenon in the fixing apparatus.

    • The image heating apparatus for heating an image formed on a recording material, comprising: first rotatable member; said first rotatable member contacting second rotatable member, wherein the recording material bearing the image passes through a nip portion formed at a position between said first rotatable member and said second rotatable member; heating means for heating said first rotatable member, said heating means including a third rotatable member that is flexible and a temperature detecting element, wherein the third rotatable member contacts an outer peripheral surface of said first rotatable member with the third member, wherein the temperature detecting elements is provided in an area of an inside surface said third rotatable member, wherein said first rotatable member and said third rotatable member contacts in the area; and control means for controlling said heating means based on detecting the temperature of said temperature detecting elements.
