摘要： A fiber optic plug assembly of a fiber optic connector assembly is provided and generally includes a fiber optic plug mounted upon an end of a fiber optic cable; a pre-molded boot placed over the fiber optic plug and the fiber optic cable; and a crimp band mated over the pre-molded boot to secure the boot to the fiber optic cable; wherein the fiber optic plug assembly is operable to mate to a fiber optic receptacle. The plug assembly eliminates the need for an overmolded boot. Further, the present invention eliminates the need to perform a heat shrink between the buffer tube and crimp body through the internal O-ring. The plug assembly meets the standards of GR-3120-CORE while at the same time providing a simpler hardware package that can be assembled with ordinary connectorization tools.

An end portion of the fiber optic cable is prepared and inserted into a retention body or the like for securing the cable to the same. In one embodiment, a partially exposed portion of a strength component (34a, 34b) and a portion of a cable jacket are secured to a retention body while another portion of the strength component remains secured to the cable jacket. In this manner, the fiber optic cable is secured to the retention body (60) while the strength component and the cable jacket also remain secured to each other for providing strain relief. A compartment (54a) for receiving additional adhesive is formed as recess in the cable jacket.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule having an expanded shoulder for improving positioning accuracy and to provide an optical fiber connector housing. SOLUTION: The ferrule 20 is provided with a shaft 24 and an expanded rear part 26 having the cross section larger than that of the shaft, with a shoulder 28 formed between the two 24, 26. A part of the shaft near the expanded rear part has curved corners and, correspondingly, the shoulder has curved inner corners. The optical fiber connector housing also has shoulders with curved corners. The connector housing is provided with a front segment having a longitudinal passage and with a rear segment having a longitudinal passage and the cross section larger than that of the front segment, while a shoulder is formed between the two segments. Since the shoulder 28 with the curved corners is provided, the optical fiber connector of this invention enables the ferrule 20 to float in an inner cavity in the connector housing without being disengaged or tilted.
