摘要： A tip engageable with an elongated sheath member for extracting an implanted elongated structure, such as a cardiac lead, from an obstruction in a body vessel of a patient. The tip includes a tip body having a proximal end, a distal end, and a passageway extending therethrough. The tip body proximal end is engageable with the distal end of the sheath member distal end. The passageway of the tip is aligned with the passageway of the sheath such that the implanted structure is receivable therein. The tip body distal end includes a segment tapering toward a leading edge. A disruptor element, such as a plurality of helices, is disposed along the outer surface of the tip body distal end. The disruptor element is configured for non-cuttingly disrupting the obstruction as the tip is advanced over the implanted structure.

摘要： A retention mechanism for maintaining a position of a catheter on the connector tube of an implantable vascular access device. The retention mechanism includes an annular member dimensioned to be received over a length of the catheter when the catheter is positioned over the connector tube, and a housing for the annular member. The annular member is capable of elastic expansion for permitting passage of the member over a large diameter portion of the catheter, and elastic compression on the catheter for maintaining the position of the catheter on the connector tube. The housing has an inner passageway that includes a channel for receiving a radially outer portion of the annular member.

摘要： A device (10) for adjusting a position of an elongated structure implanted in biological tissue to facilitate removal. An inner sleeve (60) is received in an outer sleeve (50), and movable relative thereto. A manipulator mechanism (80) is engaged with the inner sleeve distal end, and extends in a distal direction. The manipulator mechanism is arranged to capture the elongated structure, and to lock the elongated structure to the device upon relative movement of the sleeves. A handle (12) is engaged with the inner sleeve, and a plunger (30) is engaged with the outer sleeve. The plunger is engaged with the handle and movable relative thereto, wherein the outer sleeve advances distally relative to the inner sleeve to maneuver the manipulator mechanism to capture the implanted elongated structure. The position of the elongated structure may be controllably adjusted to facilitate removal thereof from the biological tissue.

摘要： A device for removing from a patient a previously implanted elongated structure, such as a pacemaker lead or a defibrillator lead, that may be encapsulated in biological tissue of the patient. In one form, the device comprises a sheath member having an inside dimension greater than the outside dimension of the elongated structure, and a gripping member positioned about the sheath member. The gripping member has a longitudinal passage extending substantially therethrough, which longitudinal passage is dimensioned to encircle at least a portion of the elongated structure. A proximal portion of the gripping member may extend outwardly beyond the proximal end of the elongated structure and outwardly of at least the vascular system of the patient. The gripping member may comprise a first configuration having a first diameter that is greater than the outside dimension of the elongated structure, and a second configuration having a second diameter that is substantially the same as the outside dimension of the elongated structure.
